Black oxide treatment adds lubricity and creates small pockets on the surface of the tool that act to hold coolant near the cutting edge. Round shank with square end. Straight flute tools allow chips to collect in the flutes as they cut and are well suited for most applications in shallow cuts. Right-hand cut tools have a cutting action that engages when they are run in a clockwise direction. Reamers expand by loosening one adjusting nut and tighting the other. Each reamer expands to the next size.

The reamer was accurate and decent enough for the job I needed it for, which was a light reaming to correct problems with tuning chambers on a musical instrument (scottish smallpipes)

Attempted to use this to ream some simple brass bushings instead of paying a machine shop $120, I also figured hey it could probably come in use later down the road - good addition to have in the tool box. Well, this tool just would not cut! Rather, it would catch the sides of the bushing gouging it leaving extremely deep grooves. Tried different cutting oils, different lubricants; cleaned every speck of shaved metal from the tool! Anyway, this ruined two bushings and since at this point I needed new bushings to replace my new ruined bushings thanks to this tool, I tried it on a third bushing for kicks and that is when one of the steel blades actually snapped. So, -$30 for the tool, -$6.99 for the shipping and now -$20 for new bushings. Now I'm wishing I had gone to the machine shop.

The quality looks to be very good, the shipping was faster than expected and the price was very reasonable. I don't expect any problems when I finally get to use the reamer as I will be using it for reaming the necks on brass cartridge cases. I have yet to use the reamer, so I can't give a review as to it's to how well it works.I have worked in maint. field for a number of years and have used adjustable reamers. The reamer looks and adjusts just fine, but, the proof is in the putting as they say.

Was prefect for expanding the inside of a 1911 Barrel Bushing. Great addition for this type of custom work. Did not come with a protective case though.
