I used this in an old Gitzo Series 5 tripod, and the fit is perfect. The quality of the machining is excellent. Save yourself $100 over the Gitzo and by this!

A great find as the Gitzo series 5 adapter plate is $125, this one is just $30. It's turned aluminum and coated black. Even has the hook on the bottom like the Gitzo plate. Fits perfectly on the System 5 tripod. I have a RRS BH-55 ball head on one plate and a Wimberly Gimbal head on another. Makes for a quick change between heads. Desmond makes some nice, reasonably priced equipment.

This will fit 5 Series and older Series 4.It does fit:All Gitzo 5 Series systematic-Older- Gitzo 4 series (newer series 4 use the series 3 flat disk!)Induro Grand Series 5Iduro Grand Series 4 (Induro uses the 5 size plate on it's 4 series )It will not fit:ANY 3 (or 2) Series Gitzo.Current 4 Series GitzoANY 3 (or 2) Series InduroBuild quality. Well it's great! For the price you can;t beat it. Gitzo wants more than times as much for one of these. Even Induro charges a lot more. This looks to be almost exactly as well made as the Induro Grand series, turned on a lathe out of a solid piece of quality aluminum. It has a nice hook for hanging weight underneath, and a tension set screw to prevent your head from coming off.as long as you need a 5 series, I would definitely recommend this well made product
