My original thermal gun arrived on time. Opened up the battery cover on the handle to install my own 9-V battery since none was in the package. Thought it odd there was only one red wire attached to the battery connector. Inside was stuffed the black wire which was not attached to the terminal connector. No way this gun could get power. Also noticed on the plastic marketing case a paper shadow where a large sticker had been removed. So I went online to Amazon to return this damaged gun and get a replacement, hoping this detached wire was just a fluke. Was instructed to return the gun to Kohl's where small Amazon returns were collected. The Kohl's clerk printed out a return sticker to plaster onto the gun package. It all now made sense....my original gun had been previously returned as damaged, package cleaned up & put back into regular stock without fixing the loose wire. Anyway, my replacement thermal gun arrived the next day, all wires attached to the battery connector AND a 9-V battery included! The new gun works great as it should. Good product. However the third-party vendor needs to improve its customer service & not send inoperative returns back out as good products.

Summary: Works great. I use it for BBQ, the flat griddle on the gas stove, and when heating something with my heat gun, frying peanuts, etc. On the stove, it makes sure its hot enough to cook, but not so hot as to burn. Without this, its hard to know exactly what temp the gas heated flat griddle or the deep frying oil is. I was at a friends for brunch, and the pancake batter nearly burst into flames. So I got him one of these too.More recently, I'm using it to take my temperature. I first took temperature with std thermometer. Then used this to measure the back of my hand. As expected, skin is lower than core. In my case, the back of my hand is 6 degrees less. So now I can do a quickie 10 second temperature check. Yeah, I know there are stick-in-your-ear or press-against-your-temple thermometers out there, and I have one somewhere, but this is handy and quick. If I'm concerned, then I check with the other ones. There are lots of settings, such as what type of material its measuring. If you are interested in a precise and accurate number, you can set this. But I never adjust that, and its close enough for me. I'm not trying to measure down to the nearest 1/10th degree, just if its close to boiling yet or not.

Used it so far primarily for measuring griddle temperature. Very easy to use, and really like the emissivity adjustment capability. No attempt to confirm accuracy so far, but in scanning floors, walls, and such it does indicate what I would expect those temperatures to be.

I've been waiting to pull the trigger (pun intended) on this item for awhile now. I added the yellow edition to my wishlist a long time ago, and when they released the blue model with slightly different temperature thresholds, I picked it up.So happy I did!The primary reason for purchasing this is to check the temperature of a pizza stone I have in my oven. I've made thousands of pizzas over the years, and I know that temperature control is important. But when I'm making pizza at home, in a home oven, temperature control is sometimes questionable - even with a decent home oven.So this non-contact temperature gun will allow me to simply and quickly point and shoot, a little red laser pops out letting you know where it's checking the temperature, and quickly reports back.Luckily, everything I'm going to be measuring is within the -58℉~1022℉ range, so I can use it for things like checking the temperature of items in the fridge, window temperature differentials (to see where heating/cooling is leaking) and even checking temperatures of electronic components. The non-contact is very important for these applications.I think the only thing I would recommend to the manufacturer is to redesign the battery drawer. It was a little challenging getting the empty 9V battery plug out, but also, getting the battery back in, so the door/handle will close was tricky as well. It's a small thing, and I don't foresee changing the 9V battery more than once a year on this, but still, worth mentioning. It takes a little wiggling and jiggling to get the red and black wires in just the right place so the battery and plug will fit flush. To the manufacturer: thanks for making such an affordable and essential home tool!

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this product : it is cheap, it is fair quality, it is adjustable depending on the material you're testing, it is lightweight, you can read it in celsius or Fahrenheit... It does its job very well. I love it !

This thermometer gun is pretty cool! It comes packaged in a clamshell that is super easy to open, you don’t have to be super strong to open it and you won’t need scissors. It comes with a battery, and you will need to open the batter door, remove batter covering and attach it. The gun fits perfect in my hand. It has a really nice grip. It’s a grippy rubber like material on the outside, and it doesn’t slip out of your hand. I purchased this mainly for testing temperatures of my oven and pots when baking sweets and candies that need specific temperatures. I’ve found it to work great and accurately. When I first got it, it was fun to use out all around the house. We tested the temperature of the griddle on the stove top, of the interior oven, then to the fridge and the freezer. Later that night, we decided to throw some burgers and dogs on the grill, and we used it to test the temperature of the grill as well. I thought I was just going to use it for baking, and occasionally with soap and candle making. I was wrong! We use it on the water we boil to make coffee in our French press or a matcha latte, both of which water temperature can be crucial in regards to flavor. I highly recommend this product! I did receive this product to test for free, in exchange for my honest opinion. The opinion I’ve expressed is my own, and I am in no way compensated for it. I have thoroughly tested this product, and have used it several times in several different applications before expressing my opinion.
