Bought the 1/4 and 3/4, in my opinion they are easily the best chisel for anyone's tools bag super compact and not going to cut or tear anything. Decently sharp right out of the box. Good steel and they sharpen nicely. They feel like they will last a lifetime to me. My 3/4 chisel is 2 years old now still perfect but i have sharpened it over the years.

A folding chisel is a great idea. But. These chisels use a remarkably soft steel that doesn't hold an edge. I find I need to sharpen the Fastcap chisels after each small job. Such a good idea; wish the mfgr would just use a decent steel. I have started carrying non-folding chisels just so I can do more than one job without resharpening.

These folding chisels are great for a toolbox.I have two: 3/4" (green) and this 1/4" (blue)I like that they are color coded. Folding makes them able to be in my toolbox. The handles are difficult to separate to fold until it has been used a bunch.Better than really easy to separate I guess.I filed a little notch so I can pry handle sections apart with a screwdriver. That feature should be in there from the manufacturer, but I'm always modifying/customizing my stuff so maybe it's just me.

I have only had this item for a month. If problems show up, I will revise my review.I am restoring an historic house. In the finishing stage I am constantly using a chisel to make minor modifications so I usually have one in my back pocket. If it goes in handle first, I cut myself or scratch something with the chisel end. If it goes in the other way, I quickly have a hole in my pocket. It appeared that this item would correct both problems. So far this is what I can tell you.Pros:1. the folding feature protects everything2. so far the blade has retained a sharp edge3. in spite of the folding feature, the blade is stableCons:1. I don't think you would want to strike this with a mallet. The rivets at the handle probably wouldn't survive long.2. the handle, while not uncomfortable, is not as comfortable as the handle of a fine chiselI knew both of the cons before buying the chisel but decided they would be small inconveniences. I was right. I gave this 5 stars not because it is a great chisel but because it works very well and does exactly what I wanted.I own several other folding items from this same company. None of them would be my tool of choice for extensive work, but all of them work well for the times when you need to do something simple and quick. I can usually pull the tool out of my pocket and finish the job before I could go to my tool box and return with the proper tool.
