Great for LARGE flies. Challenging for small flies.

I bought this for bonefish flies, but have been using it as a small travel box for day trips rather than my big boat MFC box. I like the silicone grip, hold flies tightly and doesn't crush weed guards.

I just recently transferred over my flies to the box so I haven’t had a chance to test it on the water. But I wanted to note a few things I noticed immediately to any prospective buyers:Pros:- Incredible construction. The box and silicone feels solid and the box has quite the heft to it, especially after adding the leaf.- Silicone inserts are stiff to get flies in, but that’s a good thing for longevity- Good capacity. Was able to fit 300 or so flies in it, including all types for the variety of fishing I do.- Great closure. I see some have complained about the boxes pressure latch system being problematic. Nothing I can tell so far, as it’s quite difficult to open unless you give it quite a pull. Note that the closing system is not magnetic - it’s a vacuum seal around the edge. I was mislead in thinking the magnets are for closure, this is strictly for the leaf.- Deep side for streamers. Double sided boxes I’ve had in the past don’t allow for large streamers to sit without being crushed when closed. The left side on this box has a very deep section that doesn’t flatten your flies.Cons:- Price. No surprise here, as fishpond notoriously is very expensive, but $50 for a box plus $25 for the leaf is a bit steep. I feel like the leaf should be included for $50. But, you get what you pay for and it definitely does not feel cheaply made.- The leaf angle (separate purchase). I really don’t like how the leaf can rotate 90° to the magnetic side to sit flush, but only about 20° towards the other. This makes it tough for flies on the right side without having to manipulate the box to reorient it to look at your flies on that side. Wish that it had 180° of movement because this is a problem.- Spacing between rows/slots. While the spacing is great for large streamers, there is a lot of empty space with flies smaller than a size 14 (you can see the void on my nymph side photoed). Wish that at least one side of the box or leaf filled in the void with another 2-3 rows, or made the slots closer. If you have a ton of smaller flies and don’t intend on filling it with any hoppers or streamers, I don’t know that this is a great option with how spaced out it is.- Front of box/logo orientation. This is more of a gripe, but it really bothers me that the logo and shallow side, which I presume is the front, opens from the left side (see photo of box closed). Every box Ive ever owned opens from right to left like a book. Not sure if this is by design or flaw but it bothers me how this is oriented. To have the front/logo on the correct side (tab opening on the right side), this would mean the inserts are upside down.I think this is an awesome box that fits my needs in having all of my flies in one place. About 60% of my fly fishing is on ponds or lakes fishing for bass, while the other time is on rivers. This works great to fit a variety of flies for different situations without having to carry 5 different boxes. Again, if you only have small flies and intend to use it as such, I would look into a smaller box that has more appropriate spacing, as this is more suited for larger flies. Unless you’re double stacking midges here, you’re wasting a lot of space.

Box is very heavy for the size and doesn’t stay closed very well. Don’t waste your money on this box.

This fly box is very well made. The price is a bit higher than many other fly boxes, but, it is so worth the price. The box is fitted with a great sealing gasget to keep out the water and dirt.

Product seems sturdy inside and out, however, I guess I expected more for the price.

Expensive but it's hard to find a box that fits large flies well. I was able to consolidate basically all of my bass flies into a single box, from 2 packed plano 3500 divider boxes, so that was pretty impressive. My deduction is because mine basically won't close all the way. At first I thought I may have over-filled it, but that's not the issue, the seal around the case is really tight in the opposing lid and the magnets aren't strong enough to keep it closed pushing against the seal. So, it's expensive for a product where the over-engineering basically removes the base functionality. I'd trade the magnets for almost any sort of clip in a heartbeat.
