I have a couple of Ruger MK series pistols with 10" target barrels AND scopes that overhang the rear of the action. I also have a couple of match air pistols that are over 16" in length. Finding cases for these pistols can be a challenge. Most are two small. others are two expensive, many are just poorly built. This case is "Goldilocks right". Big enough to store and carry my longest pistols, sturdily built with failproof latch's and hinges, and priced low enough that I can buy and dedicate one to each of my oversized pistols.

Still the only lightweight pistol case that has intelligent latch and lock integration. This case doesn’t allow the latch to unlatch while the case is locked.It’s a good shape on the inside with less wasted space than others.The different sizes are properly stepped in relation to usual handgun sizes. Each size stacks nicely on top of the next bigger size, but also on top of the same size case, which is useful!

I purchased several different brands of pistol cases. I like the Flambeau cases the best. I've ordered more in different sizes.

I am very pleased with this case because it is large enough to hold two 14" pistols with space to spare. The slide latches are better than the common snap lever latch, and the hinges are plastic, but very substantial. The thickness of the case walls is enough to protect what is inside if dropped, but not heavy enough to stand up to an airport baggage handler. A nice feature is the case is designed to be stacked, so if you have two or more they will "lock" together when stacked on their sides and not slide off each other.Be aware that the foam that comes with it does not grip a pistol tight enough to prevent it from sliding to the bottom when the case is picked up. I suggest adding another layer of 1" foam to one side so it grips better. I have removed the foam, and cut new foam with custom cutouts for two pistols, and then covered the foam with hunter green velvet. Now the case can be dropped and both pistols stay in place and can't bump into each other.At this price expect a case that is good for storing and trips to range. I was pleased that the case was better than I expected, and fits my needs exactly.Tossed the factory foam and put 1/2 inch on bottom side. Then 1 inch of foam with cutout for pistols. Then sprayed with adhesive on foam and back side of velvet and put together. Did same to top side, but only put 1 inch of foam with no cut outs and covered with green velvet.Velvet and Foam from Amazon. 3M super 77 spray adhesive from local store.

I purchased both the 14" and 17" models because they have the same latch design as Sig Sauer uses. The slides hold the case shut and the locks simply keep the slides from moving. The seal is very tight, unlike cheap cases with loops to put a padlock through. The 14" case easily holds two full size hand guns plus extra magazines. The 17" case can hold two full size and two compact guns, but there's not much room left for accessories. Be advised that you can't use a standard gun lock (one with a 14" cable) on either of these sizes. The latches are too far apart. You'll need to use two padlocks or a longer cable lock.

As pistol cases go, its a cheap case, let's face it. We're not talking a Pelican here. That said, for the money, it is great! Way better than the other brand of cheap firearms cases we get here in Canada. I love the sliding latches on the Flambeau instead of the flip up type. I will be getting another Flambeau case. Shipping time was excellent.
