场景

How to choose the right pruning shears? Bypass or Anvil?

  • Bypass:The working principle of the bypass pruning shears is more like that of scissors. If used correctly, they will not cause damage to plants and are very suitable for pruning fresh plants.
  • Anvil:The working principle of Anvil pruners is similar to that of a knife. It crushes the soft tissues of plants and is more suitable for use on withered and dried plants.

These FLORA GUARD pruning shears should get 10 Stars for the review. They are actually that good. I'm an older guy that has used and gone through at least 50 pair of gardening shears in my lifetime. I know shears, and I am CRAZY happy over these.First, they arrived in a well padded display box, no chance they would ever get damaged in transit. When you first put them in your hands they feel PERFECT in how your hand holds and uses them, ergonomically PERFECT. First pair I've ever owned that felt 'right' when you held them. The precision of how they open and close is just spot-on. They easily cut the thinnest leaf or reed, as well as easily cutting MUCH, MUCH thicker branches and stems. These shears have two settings for how wide you want or need the blades to open or expand, depending on the thickness of the item you are currently cutting. This is the first pair of shears that I've ever found that does this.Sharp! Sharp! Sharp!. How do I know this? Well, I was out in my DIY greenhouse and needing to thin-out and remove dead stems and leaves from this past awful winter. I wasn't paying close enough attention where my non-shear holding hand was, let's just say my hand got in the way. These shears just brushed up and along the fleshy part of my left palm below my thumb and gashed a deep slice into the skin. And I used such a very soft touch and movement of these shears, yet they sliced through my skin like a hot knife through butter. YIKES, that hurt. But it was 100% my fault as I wasn't paying attention. Plus NEVER having a pair of uber-sharp shears like these I never had to worry about cutting myself. AGAIN, this was 100% my carelessness.Again, these shears arrive SHARP, but just due to the construction and engineering of these shears, sharpening them will be a breeze. Thank goodness as dull shears are frustrating AND dangerous.I know this review might sound over-the-top, but I can't help it. I love working in my yard, pruning and trimming plants, and it's unusual for me to find a garden implement that works this well and is PRICED RIGHT.Oh My! I LOVE these shears. Maybe I should get a life?!I'm not adding any photos, as the vendor's page has available photos that are better than anything I could add.

I'm new to gardening and didn't know I needed these until I got some in my hand! They work remarkably well and don't fatigue my hand like other similar shears do. They were easy to use and felt comfortable in my hand for extended periods of time.

FLORA GUARD Heavy Duty Bypass Pruning Shears (ASIN : B0DMK76ZMR) Aging gardener, losing hand strength. I got these because they say they can cut through cleanly, with minimal effort - just what I need! My previous bypass pruners would crush the branches, and tear them unevenly, because I often had to use two hands to have enough force to cut through. Supposedly these shears can cut up to 3/5 inch. I did a few branches in the 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch range, and it was so easy to get a clean cut, with very little force. They are easy to adjust to a narrow or wide jaw width. These are worth grabbing when they are on sale - I think the original price is a little high, but I've seen them at 50% off recently.

FLORA GUARD STORE Bypass Pruners. Large-ish hand pruners, nicely made and sharp. I tested them on my Bearss Lime tree that has really tough branches – sliced through them like cheese. A neat feature I’ve never seen before: “adjustable opening angle” allowing those with very small hands to use the pruners (of course this limits the opening of the jaws, so it would work with smaller limbs).

I started pruning a Japanese maple bush about two weeks ago. Purchased a $20 set of pruning shears at the local big box. After a couple of cuts I noticed that they were tearing and smashing the cuts so I returned those and bought another pair with about the same results!!So after reading a lot of reviews on amazon I decided to give these a try at half the price of the big box….Here’s my initial take on the Flora Guard pruners after using the them to prune my bush…Very well packaged!Comfortable to hold, good size and weight.Very sharp!Clean cut!Easy to useI would recommend these to my family and friends!!!

I really like these. They work well, are very sharp, and are a bright color so they don’t get lost in the brush if they get dropped. The mechanism to lock them closed is simple and easy to operate. The hand grips are comfortable to use. My only complaint would be that they don’t open as wide as other clippers I’ve had, but they’re obviously not designed to cut larger things. They cut through anything I could fit in the jaws without too much difficulty. They came nicely packaged in a box with a foam cut-out. It was actually a little hard pulling them out of the foam. They seem to be well made and I expect to get years of use out of them. There were no instructions included with the shears. There was a “mystery” button which took me a while to figure out what it did. It allows the shears to open wider. The Amazon website product description does show in one of the pictures that the switch is to allow the shears to adjust to different sized hands! I haven’t used them since discovering that switch, but that’s a welcome discovery. I have no idea what the warranty is on these – there is no mention of that in the packaging, nor on the Amazon website. To the manufacturer – less foam packaging, more instructions. 4 stars for lack of instructions or warranty info.

I don’t do much gardening myself, but my mom does—and she goes through pruning shears often. I picked these up for her and she was impressed! She’s older, so comfort and ease of use really matter. She said these were sharp, lightweight, and easy to grip. She had no trouble cutting small branches and doing general yard cleanup with them. For just $10, these are seriously a great value. The blades are sharp, the spring-loaded action makes them easy to operate, and there's even a safety lock for storage. If you or someone you know burns through clippers or just needs a reliable backup pair, these are definitely worth grabbing at this price.
