First time using one of these and replaced my existing one. Although I suspect these will hold up well, I was surprised at how easy they were to remove. No leaks after 2 weeks. Bought a spare just to have in case. Careful on removing these too quickly for oil changes. The oil came out like a river and over flowed some onto our gravel driveway. Next time I do it I'm going to hold it about half way in to let it drain slower.

Yeah, you can save a few bucks buying the after market version, (I almost did), and I honestly think there's probably nothing wrong with 3rd party. However, clearly some folks had problems with them falling out, and that's just not a risk I'm willing to take (I do suspect that there was possibly some "user error" involved, but still). Bottom line is, these work, and I sleep better at night.Ford has changed the design slightly, as this one has an indention for a 3/8 socket drive, where my old one had a protruding tab for your finger. Just know that the two are interchangeable. By the way, take it easy with the tools. These were originally designed to be removed with your fingers. Don't let the fact that you now use a socket extension to turn it fool you into thinking you need to wrench these babies. Take it easy, and you'll have no problems. Here's another quick tip if you've never used these drain plugs. . . Don't just pull the plug. The opening is huge, and you'll have a nice recreation of the Exxon Valdez on your driveway! Just pull the plug away partially, and allow the oil to exit in a gentle and controlled manor. You can thank me later.

These were hard to find and took a week to get delivered. They are OEM parts and work great even though a bit expensive. This is a really poor design from the Ford engineers you have to replace them with every oil change.

Have not installed yet as the original still works. Piece of mind to have on hand for my 7 year old truck.
