This OBD2 scanner is easy to use and provides clear readings, even without downloading the accompanying app. Simply plugging it into the car's OBD2 port under the dash and turning the ignition on (without needing to start the engine) allows the device to retrieve and display error codes and titles. The user can then look up the specific part that needs to be replaced online. The device feels like a quality product, and its straightforward operation makes it accessible to users who may not be familiar with OBD2 scanners. Although the reset feature has not been tested, the device's overall performance suggests that it is a reliable tool for diagnosing and troubleshooting vehicle issues.

Foxwell is a known company with a good reputation so it's no surprise that this unit appears to be very well made. It comes in a semi-hard shell zipper case, very nice with carrying handle, zipper compartment inside for the cables, manuals and such, and a secure place for the unit itself.Before anything I charged it to make sure it's internal batteries was at full capacity. An interesting note is that it doesn't appear to like high capacity USB chargers, ones that can do high speed charging to devices that can negotiate. I've seen devices that will do this before. You have to use an older charger, the standard 2.4 amp / 12 watt variety.Next was to register with an email address and create an account with Foxwell so that the unit could be activated. You have to connect the unit to Wi-Fi and then once they email you a code you enter that and the unit will talk with the factory to be activated.Once activated the manual recommended doing a software update. I told it to update everything and it took a little over 45 minutes, as it has not only its internal operating system (Android based) an applications, but also software "apps" for different auto manufacturers. I was surprised that the number of those it contains, definitely a worldwide choice because so many of them I had never even heard of before!Plugging the unit into your vehicle is straightforward, the same as any other OBD scan tool I've used. Once connected you can either manually enter the VIN number or it will automatically get it for you. As stated earlier this unit is capable of working with more car brands than I have ever heard of, so the functions that it can perform will be very dependent upon what each individual brand and model under that have implemented. It does all the basic trouble code scanning and displaying. It can clear trouble codes of course, depending on the make and model it can also perform more specific tasks as to resetting ABS systems, TPMS systems, etc.It is probably more than an individual user will need, but in one unit would definitely perform all the functions necessary for a small shop. It is not as sophisticated as a SCAN tool which is usually quite tailored to an individual brand because those can actually go in and manipulate the onboard computer systems.
