I bought this 22.5 inch saw with scabbard from outfitters supply about three years ago and it has held up great. We trail ride about 600 miles a year in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and surrounding area and this saw is on my saddle every time I ride. The saw has saved me many times from turning around when the trail was blocked by fallen trees and it was not safe to go above or below the trail on steep terrain. I have sawed over a hundred fallen trees and the saw is still sharp. The saw will handle anything from about 2 inches up to about 15 inches, but big trees are a workout, especially if you have to make several cuts. I do not attach it to my saddle like a rifle scabbard, as seen in the advertisement pictures, instead I tie it behind my saddle with the curve behind the cantle, over the top of my saddle bags and then tie my slicker on top. I clean and condition the scabbard every time I clean my saddle, and it has held up well and holds the saw secure. The only issue I have had is the bolts in the handle started coming loose after several uses, so I applied blue loctite to them and have not had anymore issues.

We like to call this kind of saw a "rip saw". What that means is - if the limb is the width of a ping pong ball or smaller - you can simply pull back with ONE RIP - and cut the limb. LOVE this saw for fast and simple limb removals .... if a limb is the width of your arm, you can remove it in less than 30 seconds ....
