I used this membrane without installing heating element in a kitchen remodel that I just completed. Lay mortar, put membrane on top, then more mortar, then tile. Easy. I'm not a professional flooring installer as my trade is fencing and landscaping with occasional remodels. But I have used this type of membrane inside my own home as well as clients and it saves time instead of laying down cement board on top of a wood subfloor.
