About this item

  • HANDPICKED IN THE DUNLOP STRING LAB: Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu chose every string in this set to keep up with their creative drive.
  • PEAK PERFORMANCE WHEN DOWNTUNED: Heavy Core string design keeps notes stable and focused at lowered tunings.
  • FULL DYNAMIC RANGE: Vivid highs and rich lows balance out a complex and expressive spectrum of tones.
  • TONALLY BALANCED FROM STRING TO STRING: Each string is specifically designed to naturally complement the tone of the others in its set.

Trivium’s Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu need gear that keeps up with their creative drive. That’s why they came to the Dunlop String Lab and designed their own set of Heavy Core® Strings, with each gauge handpicked to keep notes stable and focused at lowered tunings while offering a full dynamic range that’s balanced with vivid highs and rich lows. This set gives Matt and Corey the freedom to create the music they love with peak performance and playability. “Since the beginning, Trivium has used Dunlop Strings—the exact same custom set you are holding in your hands,” say Corey and Matt. “We have vastly different equipment and playing styles, but the one constant between us is—and has always been—Dunlop’s world-class strings.”

When installing the strings, I was very careful to follow the order of the strings marked on the package but the 4th string tension didn't seem right when tuning it. I checked the color coding and I had them in the correct order. I use a digital caliper to check the strings and as I thought the larger string was in the 4th position. I luckily I left enough to be able to correct the and get a few winds around the tuning peg.Otherwise the strings sound great.

I was looking for the perfect Drop C string gauge for a long time and always picked the EB 10-52 which i did not really like rhe 5th string as being too tight and strings 2 and 3 were a tad loose for my liking.Stumbled upon Matt's signature set and i can say im really impressed. Overall tension is amazing for both C and C#.The sound quality is decent, i have the weird impression they sound a bit dark, but there's nothing an EQ woulnd't fix.Tuning stability is on point so far. What i can't say i'm a fan is the packaging that arrived smashed (strings were intact) and made me worry a bit about the plastic envelope they were packed in.Context: I'm using a Schecter KM6 MK2 with 25.5 inch scale length set up to Drop C with 10-52s (this set needed no setup adjustment)

I bought three sets for the price. First set felt gritty and had a bit of rust. 2 of the string end pieces were missing. 3rd set had zero tuning stability.Waste of money
