The nails that are supplied are utterly useless, no points, they couldn’t puncture cardboard so nailing them into a heel is out of the question.

This is a great product for the value. It saves me money from going to the shoe repair just to replace these taps which can add up quickly. They're durable and easy to install. I recommend this product.

These are much more difficult to install without the adhesive backing. They work well enough but I would not have bought these had I realized.

Beware the devil! These shoe heel sole protectors will prevent outside wear of side of heel on outer right and outer left side of shoes. This prevents pronation and maintains a straight heel stance and helps with leg and especially lower back posture, avoiding pinched nerve pain injury and maintaining joint and ligament health.Rubber heel pad holes are not well penetrated; take wood plank backing, hammer, large nail and pound hole form in order to better hammer supplied small brad nails to fasten rubber heel pads to shoe heel.An individual can also take his shoes to professional shoe repair, but this item saves time and money. In any event, outside heel protectors are indispensable. This is an excellent product.

I put these on all my boots (which I literally live in) when they are new and replace when they wear out. I used to pay the shoe repair guy to do it but figured out it is much cheaper to buy and apply my own. Super easy and I don’t have to replace worn down heels, which is super expensive. Keeps my boots looking good and lasting a long time.

Made out of nice, durable plastic, adequate to the use for which it was designed. I like mine. Be sure to buy the package of 20 or so, because they do wear out. But if placed wisely, your shoes don't. But there are two factors you must deal with. First is the nails. You'll need a dremel or a grinder or something because you'll need to grind the heads down so that they will sink into the recesses in the heel caps. Otherwise, the nails will scratch up the floors you walk on. Second thing is you need to scuff up the back side of the heel caps. Out of the box it is slick, smooth plastic, and you need a coarser surface if you're going to want the glue to adhere. I scuffed up mine with a dremel drum sander attachment, and that did the job fine. You could use a coarse sandpaper and do it by hand. If you don't do this, the nails won't keep the cap attached to the shoe. Rocks and grass and whatever will pull on it and it will come loose. And you need to use glue on it. I've been using Shoe Goo on mine, and that's worked fine. I think Gorilla Glue would probably work. You need something like that though, that has a little bit of give in it. Also, it helps if you use a small drill bit to put holes in the caps before putting in the nails. The nails are short, as they must be because they're going in pointed at your heel, but it's hard to get the nails started without banging up your fingers. But if you drill a hole in the heel cap first, you can just push the nail into the hole and it will stand up on its own and you can hammer it down without your fingers getting in the way. Once the nails were driven in flush, I used a small pair of needlenose pliers to push the nails deeper into the recesses. In short, if you're wanting to buy something you can just apply without much thought and get on with your day, this probably isn't the best choice for you. But if you're trying to keep your shoes from wearing out and you're looking for an effective, affordable solution, then this might be just what you're looking for.

Too thick so it does make your shoes less stable. Also wears out quite quickly. Put on my doc martens 4 months ago and already have to put on new ones.
