Liked: lightweight easy to take on gig, instrument looks good on stand and easy to get when you are ready to play.Disliked: tricky to ease sax into secure position; have to double check to ensure instrument is securely held by stand…one time instrumentó went sideways in the stand—fortunately sax did not fall out of stand.

Well built and easy to set up. It compacts well for transportation. I doubt there is a better stand out there.

Holds alto sax good & secure. Quick saxophone pick up and put back on stand. Easy one handed removal of sax off stand. Make sure you adjust the moveable bell support correctly & you won't have any problems.

Build quality is excellent! it holds your saxophone very well. You can adjust the height for your tenor and alto. Looks great, I love the portability, how easy is to assemble and the “grab bell” feature when you put your instrument it gives you that extra peace of mind feeling that your instrument is secured and not going anywhere. So far, I am happy with the purchase!

It fell over! The first time I used this, I placed my saxophone on it with care. I watched how the clamping mechanism worked. I observed how the unit was holding it and how the saxophone rested on the pads above and below. I looked at it for a while. It seemed good. I turned my back and started working on something on the computer. A minute later - CRASH! My saxophone lay on its side on the floor. What a disaster. Luckily no damage. The problem is that you have to be so aware that the saxophone is balance and centered perfectly on the bottom pad. If it is not, the slick lacquer of the saxophone creates a surface for it to easily slide and twist under its own weight. The slide and twist, throws it off balance, which causes the catastrophe. I am so disappointed. I tried it again and seemed to get it on the stand where it was perfectly balanced. I will try it some more, but I will never trust it or feel completely comfortable with it. I chose this stand, because it looked like it was sturdy. I felt that sturdy equaled, well designed and safe. I was sadly mistaken.

I have a big bell tenor saxs. The stand sits pretty low. It’s doing it’s job but I don’t feel real comfortable leaving it on the stand. No issues and seems to be high quality but I’d like it to be more secure. Care needs to be taken as bottom bumper pops up when removing off the stand. That said Hercules is the best company out there. I use them with my guitars without issue.

This stand is sturdy and folds down really quite small. The bag is very useful for storing it in although the material it's made from seems a bit thin. The others in the band I play with all seem to use the guitar or keyboard versions of Hercules so it is obviously a good make. The auto grip seems to work OK but was not the main reason I wanted the stand which was the sturdy build and small footprint when folded up.For £21 you can't go wrong, especially when compared with the cheap £10 ones you can get that don't fold anywhere near as small.I will be getting another!

I've been using sax stands for a LOT of years (40+) and have used Hercules stands for the past 5-6 years, as they make a very durable and easy to transport stand. I play soprano/alto/tenor/bari saxes on many gigs. One of the things that always made me nervous on gigs was that the Hercules (and almost all other) sax stands did not really "secure" the horn. What I mean is they were pretty stable, but the "grip" on the bell was not consistently "snug" without being so tight you couldn't pick up or place a sax out/in the stand quickly and safely. This all changes with the new design!!! Just to see how well it does hold the horn in place when in the stand, I put my alto sax in the stand the picked up the stand/sax and held it by the upright bar...and turned it over to see if the sax stayed in place (of course my test had a hand ready to catch the horn if/when it fell out of the stand.) To my delight, the horn stay in place without ANY movement!!! I guess I could actually walk around carrying it by the stand's upright bar...but I'm not that brave! This is a great improvement of an already really fine sax stand! I expect they will update all versions they make to incorporate this new bell "grip" mechanism...at least I hope they do. My recommendation is that you buy this new model...if you love your horn. It's definitely an excellent investment and will keep your "baby" in place much better!
