It seems that would have been a good thing except that it won't close makes it hard to store it. It's extremely Sharp.

It’s quite sturdy. The blades are solid and cut cleanly. I find the bigger strawberries get stuck a little and I have to shake them out. It cut eggs and mushrooms easily. I like that it’s easy to clean and then locks to be put away. One-handed is helpful.

I bought this to quickly cut strawberry’s, as the pictures all show it being used for that purpose. It did not make the job easier or faster. The metal slicer parts cut into the plastic part of the holder and would get stuck. Cheap plastic and sharp metal are not a good combination. Very disappointed in this product. Save your money and use a knife.

Easy to use, sturdy and sharp to be careful when you rinse it off. Love to slice strawberries with it but you can use it on ther fruit

First, the locking tab was somehow broken. So much for that feature. Then we tried to cut button mushrooms and the blades would not go completely through, no matter how hard we squeezed the handles together without breaking the whole thing. We tried with the mushroom on its head (stem up), we tried with the mushroom on its side - to no avail. We had to remove the slices with a knife (the blades are sharp, we did not want to cut ourselves). We will try it with strawberries or fruits when the season comes around, but at that price, we expected that cutter to work. As for returning it, all options offered to us are too costly for what that cutter is worth. So we are stuck with a cutter that does not cut.

Before with several wire egg slicers I thought, "Who pays over $15 to slice eggs and other soft foods?" Then the cheap wire ones started breaking and I began my journey of finding a better mouse trap. (aka. Egg Slicer) The result is there is no magic bullet from reading way to many reviews on egg slicers! (This is what my life has become?) I purchased this one and out of the box seemed kinda cool and I was happy to be wire free. Now the next tier of higher priced gadget problems began. They all seem to have springs that give out causing them to not jump open ready for the next bit of goodness or they start to misalign causing bits of plastic to be shaved off to the sharpness of a toothpick. (always good to have fall into your food. The later was my issue. Was doing great on eggs but "Nooo", I had to read that it also cut Strawberries and mushrooms, That's when the blades began twisting just enough to catch the edges of the plastic grate below the food as it cut through, or it caught a big edge not allowing it to completely pass through the food. This seems to be such a common problem with these items that I decided to keep this until it kills me eating pointed plastic or the spring gives out. I will then decide to look for that $40 egg slicer that will have a mystery flaw or go back to the ever faithful but so deadly kitchen knife. This review is long but, read this one and make your decision. I just saved you 20 minutes of your life

Liked that it is strong enough to slice strawberries. Broke a lot of egg slicer wires before I found out there was a "mushroom" slicer that has blades instead of wires. Delivered in a timely manner. Is as advertised.

Worked pretty good for a couple of months before it broke. It would get hung up and chop plastic, but worked well with small fruits.

I first rec'd one like this as a gift years ago, but it broke after over using it. I searched for a long time then found yours. It is my favorite gaget in the kitchen. It easily goes through a softer apple for pie, strawberries, mushrooms, and my kids favorite: string cheese. They like little circles for their salads and finger foods.

The slicer works great but it doesn't last very long. I bought one of the slicers a couple of years ago and it worked great until this spring when one of the handles broke at the pivot point. I bought a replacement in April and again it worked great until this morning when it broke at the same point.

Nice product, slice eggs, mushrooms and strawberries like a pro! You won't go back to wire slicers.

I have had this for a year now and it is still sturdy, easy to use and clean. I used to go through egg slicers every few months, so this little gadget surprised me with how well it has kept up - it still looks like new. I slice up about a dozen eggs and many, many mushrooms weekly. I have not used it on fruit.
