I would have given it 5 stars but it was a little tricky finding out how to change it to work on farenhiet not celciec wish there was a complete tutorial video on how to use this tool.

Let me start by saying it takes ALOT to get me to rate something as low as one star. After trying to use this thing for far too long all I can say is that I'm sad I didn't return it while I could because now it's just a waste of money and I'm going to have to waste even more money buying a different one that will actually do what it advertises.The only positive thing about it is that it does take temperatures... kindof... without much accuracy.The list of bad things is extensive though...1. Bluetooth doesn't work, I can't find a single way to get this "bluetooth enabled" device into any sort of pairing mode.2. The app they tell you to use with it is broken. The app makes you register an account before you can use it... but the registration function is bugged and never allows you to create an account. I even emailed the devs about the issue but didn't get a response for weeks, then one night (while I was sleeping) I got an email from the dev's random email account that contained a password reset link that expired 5 minutes after receiving the email. So, y'know... useless.3. There is no way to just tell it to continually monitor temperature. If you don't hold down the test button then it just turns off. This makes it pretty useless on a tripod since you have to have your hand on it no matter what to get it to work.4. Since the app doesn't work there is no way to track readings over time.Basically this whole item is a ripoff. If all you need is something to point and click temperatures then you're much better off going with one half the price with less features because all the "features" this thing supposedly has don't work.

No soy un experto y lo pienso usar sólo para cuestiones caseras es decir cocina, verificación del funcionamiento de electrodomésticos (Refri, congelador, hornos, etc ) de momento he andado de ocioso midiéndolo todo !, muy divertido, además muy bien pecio, no se qué es lo que ofrecen otros más termómetros más caros, pero éste se siente bien hecho, además tiene un gancho para colgarlo, tiene estuche y usa batería de 9 Volts.Muy recomendable.

Thermometer arrived with a dead 9 volt battery. After I installed the supplied battery and turned on the unit, only one laser dot was visible. I removed the battery and it was measured at 5.2 volts. I installed a fresh battery and the unit worked as advertised. This may seem like a trivial matter to ship a precision instrument with a dead battery, but it raises some doubt as to the overall quality of this product. Only time will tell if this was a good purchase, or not.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: The laser thermometer came with instructions, a soft fabric case and a `new` plastic wrapped 9v battery with no date printed on it.The lens cover does not fit right, looks poorly made. It has one of my pet peeves, you need a screwdriver to open the battery compartment. There is a small screw recessed at the base of the handle and no mention of it in the instructions.I cut the shrink wrap off the battery and installed it. You pull the trigger to turn it on, every time I pulled the trigger I could not see the laser, the temp would always read -22degC and then turn itself off. I was about to send this back, but decided to test the battery. The battery was completely dead, it would not even register anything on a pulse tester. I put a new 9V battery it worked. Please see the attached photos of the laser pattern and display.CONCLUSION: Okay, once I got this working I went around the house checking for leaky windows and cold spots. It works great for scanning for temperature changes. I like it, it is a good useful tool for the occasional user like me, it is not a great quality case and lens but perhaps it is accurate.Yes, it did have one of my pet peeves, needing a screwdriver to access the battery compartment, but I did not put it back in and the handle stays on due to two indents in the grip.Of course I do have to ding them for providing a dead battery too.REVIEW PHILOSOPHY: I only review a product if it is something I am capable of critically evaluating through comparison, testing and use. This means I have experience of using similar items; or that I have equipment or tools that I can test it with; or that I have an upcoming need so I can actually use. I am as selective about getting an item to review as I would be about purchasing that same item, so yes, I expect it to be a good product. My reviews are NOT based on packaging or if it was delivered timely.

Very please with HP-985C-APP laser infrared thermometer. Surprised with how accurate it is when the emissivity is correct. Black or very dark surfaces work best. It is not accurate on lighter or shiny surfaces as might be expected. I checked boiling water in a dark pan and it was within +- 2 degrees of 212F. Also, distance is not a major factor. I can check my rear differential case temperature at a foot or 4 feet with the same result. It’s a useful tool.

I am really enjoying this thermometer. I bought it to check temperatures on my Blackstone griddle and my Austin XL pellet grill. It is very accurate and quick to get a reading. This unit has helped me to understand where the hot spots are at. I can now use both units with peace of mind for cooking. No more wondering what the temps actually are!

Very nice meter, good response time, nice clear LCD and bright backlight, but not washed out. The wake-up time is reasonable as well.I haven't had a chance to test the higher end of the measurement range, but everything I've tested from 40f-500f has seemed reasonable accurate.
