The Water Leak Sensing Alarm can be your front line in water defense. Place it near high-risk areas for leaks: bathrooms, laundry room, basements and faucets and be alerted with a loud audible alarm as soon as water is detected.

our undersink water filter failed and this alarm started beeping loudly. I was able to reach under the sink and turn the water off and clean up the mess before it damaged anything. the long sensor is the key to detecting water anywhere under the sink. THANK YOU! I recommend this unit.

The Resideo RWD42 Water Defense Water Leak Alarm with Sensing Cable offers reliable water leak detection and a straightforward setup. However, I was disappointed by the lack of WiFi connectivity, which limits its usefulness for remote monitoring. While it effectively alerts you to leaks when you're at home, the absence of smart features makes it less convenient for those seeking more advanced, connected home solutions.

Worked for about a year. Recently had a water spill and now the alarm won’t turn off after completely drying it. Like other users I have an older model at least 5 years old and it still works. Very disappointed.

This sensor detected leaks of water dripping from my HVAC humidifier to the basement floor. I have them placed around the house now. I live in a 3-story townhouse where water leaks on upper floors in the past where we have no detectors resulted in damage costing over $25,000 to repair. As you might imagine, my insurance company which foot the bill highly recommended these. They work! We've also learned to turn off water to the house when we travel per advice from our insurance company.I'm buying these "used" because many are being returned. I don't understand why. I test them before use with a water soaked cloth and each has set off the alarm when the slightest amount of water contacts the extendable cord. Unlike the older version of this model, I have to let the water sensing cord dry thoroughly before using the sensor again. This is easy to do by unplugging the cord to stop the beeping and let it dry.The test button doesn't work on any of the 7 detectors I have so I believe it's not installed at the factory. Not an issue. The 2AA batteries seem to last for a couple years. When they need replacing the device beeps every 30 seconds or so the same as fire detectors batteries. Chasing down the beeping dead battery can be a challenge with many around the house.Of course you must be home to benefit from these detectors. They are no WiFi capable and don't connect externally to any alarm system. If you need that capability there are plenty of options. We like these because they are simple to use and work for us.

Used this under our sink because we have a reverse osmosis water filter that used quick connect fittings, and we were worried about small leaks in our new cabinets. The test button doesn't work, as described in other reviews for this device. We tested it by wetting the cable, and it did sound the alarm. But you have to allow the cable to dry off before you can use it again. And, as described in other reviews, the alarm is just not loud enough to use when it is enclosed in a cabinet. You can barely hear it in an enclosed space. Would probably work well for a water heater or under a refrigerator.

App seems to work great and they are easy enough to install. I’m using this as a discount for my home insurance through USAA.

Wish they actually worked. Two of them were dead right out of the box.

It is much harder to dry than their previous model. I have to get it wet to test it, then it takes a long time to dry even when you wipe it off. The previous one was easy to dry and saved me two times but it stopped working. It didn't have a test button. Why add a test button that doesn't work?

The problem with water detectors is that they don't go to the area behind the cabinets and drywall is and where the cheap CPVC joints fail. This unit with it's tail can get to those areas. Testing with a small amount of water causes a loud warning. Great product.

The water sensitive wire is surrounding the sum pump well. The self test on the unit does not work but I cannot at this time send it back as we are in the worst time of the year with the melting of the snow. The pump starts every 4 minutes so can’t take a chance that we are not protected in case the pump fails, at least we will be advised that this has happened so that I can do something about it.

Absolute rubbish! The sound alarm is only audible if you are within 6 feet of it at ear level... once in a basement or underneath/inside a cabinet or anywhere more than a corner or wall away this thing is useless! They could have used a much louder alarm but that would drain the battery too quickly - save your money for a unit that can be plugged into an outlet!
