Recently purchase a house that has Cadet in wall heaters in all the rooms. For some reason two of the rooms had old school non programable thermostats and all the other rooms had these exact Honeywell thermostats. Founds these on Amazon at a much better price than anywhere else. Now I can program the thermostats as needed. Super easy to replace the old thermostats with these and setup the programming. One neat feature, that is not turned on but can be setup, is the clock will automatically adjust for daylight savings time. More devices should be able to do this IMO.

Great upgrade for wall heat. You can set a schedule, backlight, and the current time. Purchased a few of these and they all work great and were easy to install.

I like this thermostat quite a bit, and I think it's an incredible value at the current price. However, I am annoyed that there are three programmable temperatures (comfort, economy, vacation), and the program the thermostat runs only uses comfort and economy. There are default settings for each period: Wake, Leave, Return, Sleep. Wake and return are set to the comfort temperature, and leave and sleep are set to the economy temperature. I really wish that I could set the leave period to the vacation temperature preset. The only way to set sleep and leave to different temps is to not use the sleep period, which also means you wouldn't need to have the wake period turned on. You would just use leave and return, and it will be set to comfort through sleep. But, with it set up this way you can't have separate comfort and sleep temperates, and I think most people like to sleep at a lower temperature.I don't mind this "flaw" too much, I just let my sleep temp be colder than I really want it to be and hope it doesn't actually get that cold, at least not if I need to pee. Then, the early start feature lets me set the wake period start time to the same time that I actually get up, and the thermostat will decide when to start heating based on how cold it actually got throughout the night. One last thing: I see several reviews where there was an electrical fire of some sort behind the unit. It looks like a lot of these are due to failed wire nut connections. The older thermostats I removed had 12 awg wires, and these are 14 awg. That should be fine for the length and current rating, but it gives you fewer strands for your wire nut connections. Especially for something like a heater which can draw up to 15 amps, electrical connections have to be perfect. This is an application where I can't recommend "lever nuts" enough! Lever nuts provide similar security to a screw terminal, but with the "screw" held by a firmnickel chromium steel alloy spring, which won't corrode over time. You open a lever, put a 1/2" stripped, solid or stranded (and not frayed) wire into its spot in the nut, and close the lever. I recommend part numbers 222-412 and 222-413 (2 and 3 conductor) for up to 12 awg wires, they can handle 30 amps. And part numbers 221-612 and 221-613 for up to 10 awg.

This unit is not very intuitive, so don't lose the instructions. It took me a little while to figure it all out, but the manual is concise. Besides a "Holliday" setting, there are only 2 temperatures that can be set, I would have liked a third, but that's just my preference. Each day can be set individually, or grouped as desired. The body is a bit big, so the electrical box will be rather cramped, especially when connected to 12 gauge wire. I new construction, use a deep box. I deducted one star because of the mentioned lack of intuitive settings.

I have had several Honeywell digital thermostats but this was my first digital line voltage thermostat (240v). Install was fairly easy though I am not an electrician. This thermostat replaced an old dial type used on baseboard heaters. I could not get control of the heater using the old dial type since it had no display and even the slightly turn of that dial yeilded a huge change in output to the heater. This new line voltage/digital and programmable thermostat did exactly what I needed it to do and more. Very pleased with it. The display is large and backlit when the button is pushed showing nice backlighted display. Programming is a little quirkie but once you spend some time with it you can figure it out but instructions are a little lacking. Stay, Away and Vacation mode. Comes with programmed settings that can be easily change. I purchased 2 of these now on separate purchases I like them so much. The relay click is hardly noticeable which is nice. No real take aways really. It is nice looking. Very accurate to 1 degree of temp which you can see easily now. These will save me lots of money and I know will make my house much more comfortable. I would highly recommend if you need a programmable digital line voltage thermostat.
