I think this would work for a normal situation, however my truck is 20 years old and never been taken apart. Did not work for me.I used a different method that didn't feel as abusive, didn't require a hammer.

SO much easier to remove wheel bearings. You'll probably save yourself from having to align the vehicle too not to mention the damage to everything else. Wow this makes life so much easier, especially if you live in the rust-belt. Yeah we all dream about fabricating one on your own but trust me, just buy once and cry once.
