This is a good thermal insulation kit that can be used for a wide variety of purposes. You can insulate a windows, RVs, garage doors, etc. Depending on your needs, you may need multiple packs -- to insulate a full standard size garage door, for example. The material is good at blocking heat and cold. The kit includes 65 adhesive pads, which you can use to secure the thermal insulation to whatever surface you're working with. The material is also easy to cut to size. We have several small, high windows in a bedroom that we were not using (the room also has a much larger window), and we wanted to block both heat/cold and light from coming in these smaller windows. This kit worked well for that purpose. It could also work well as a garage door insulator -- but for a two car garage, but you will need several kits. Overall this is a good option if you're in need of thermal insulation.

I am using this to insulate my bedroom from the cold of some windows in the room. I am of the opinion that the glass reverberates cold into the room from the window. I have noticed when I put my hand on the glass of the window that you can feel how cold the weather is outside. There's no insulation there I have applied this on the windows with the included book and loop sticky tapes. You apply the hooks to the window frame and tape and in a loop side with the tape on the insulating panels. But believe that this reflects your body heat, as well as the heat of your heaters, if you're using them and any other heat sources to amplify that. They are shiny and I think this will do that. All in all, I have gotten good results from these panels and they are at a good price and there's plenty of them in each , to do several windows. This is a good product and I do recommend it for those trying to save money on their winter heating bill. They also has some noise dampening qualities.

I live in an old double-wide. This reflective type of insulation is pretty much the only insulation we can use between the walls and on the windows. I was expecting the same quality of reflective insulation we purchase at Home Depot. This is definitely not it. It is super thin and where is the foam core? Plus the 'self adhesive' is basically just Velcro dots. For $20 more I can purchase a roll of better quality reflective insulation and adhere it to my windows using Gorilla tape, which is what I've been doing for the past 10 years anyway. I thought that this would make things quicker and easier with the sheets being pre-cut. This isn't the value it looks like.

Reflective insulation is a material with reflective facing—typical materials are foil-faced kraft paper, plastic film, polyethylene bubbles or cardboard. Radiant barrier insulation consists of a reflective material (generally aluminum foil) and can be combined with other materials in reflective insulation systems. Reflective insulation is one of the best choices to ensure lower bills, increase your return on investment and increase comfort of your living space.Provided that it's installed properly, foil insulation is extremely effective. Some foil type insulations are capable of reflecting up to 97% of radiant heat, which can make a huge difference to the temperature inside a home. Reflective insulation, installed in the attic ceiling, helps reflect sunlight and reduce the radiant heat transfer from the underside of the roof to the other surfaces in the attic. This helps keep your home cooler and more comfortable. It is generally more expensive due to being a metal-based product. Whilst effective in warmer climates, it will be required to be combined with other forms of insulation in colder climates in order to prevent heat loss in cold weather from convection. Still, I have used it as an underpayment in the attic and it makes a noticeable difference in the spaces where it reflects the heat. Keep in mind, in order for it to work effectively, there needs to be an air gap between the foil layer and the surface it's installed on.

Easy cut and installation. Not so pretty outside but hoping it will help against the cold windowpanes and cold exterior wall this winter.

This window insulation material should provide a bit of temperature management in either hot or cold weather and is easy to install. This insulation will be useful for old single-pane windows that leak temperature into your home or work space. It also blocks all light coming in, so it's useful for day sleepers who need it dark. The description doesn't mention the R-value of this material. It is quite thin (3mm), so the actual insulation properties are fairly minimal. I attached a piece of it to a single pane window in my mountain home during freezing weather, and the difference between the glass and the insulation was almost the same after only a few minutes. I also tested it near a heater and found the material transferred the heat very quickly. Don't count on this stuff to do a serious amount of insulating. It's too thin for that. If you have a window that faces directly to the sun it will reflect a fair amount of heat back, but it also allows a lot of it to pass through. Not sure I buy the 97% heat reflection claim. It sounds a bit optimistic. That said, this material will be useful in a number of situations. It's easy to install. The provided velcro dots make installation quick and simple, and you can remove the material without ripping tape off your walls or windows. The dots adhere nicely to the insulation and the window but can be removed from the window without leaving any residue behind.Bottom line: A useful, if limited, approach to insulating windows.
