These bolts turned a 1 hour railing install into a multi day hassle of research and buying drill bits. In the end, I switched to expansion sleeve anchors and the job was quickly finished.I drilled the holes with a 1/4" masonry bit to a depth 1" deeper than the bolts. I reamed the holes to pull out some dust, then blew the rest out with canned air and a straw. I confirmed the depth with a dowel before driving the bolts in.I used an impact driver to drive the bolts. The bolts would go about half way then stop. Same for all 8 holes. I tried a ratchet, but the threads and just stripped further. I backed out the bolts and blew the debris out of the holes and tried again…same result. What finally worked was reaming the 1/4" holes with a slightly larger 7 mm wood bit. The bolts went in easy after that. However, the bit broke off in the 4th hole. I gave up and switched to sleeve anchors for the remaining 4 holes. Some guesses as to the problem: • a 1/4" drill bit bends too easily, drilling a curved hole • the Tapcon threads can't cut the pebbles in concrete • a 1/4" hole is just too narrowIn any case, I'd avoid these 5/16" bolts. Size up to 3/8" or use another type of anchor.Needs improvement: • The instructions do not mention the max torque • The instructions do not specify the type of concrete or aggregate

It takes a little more torque to secure these as opposed to just a drop in expansion anchor, however, should you decide to remove the installation later, you can back these out and fill the hole. Good product, would recommend.

Worked for me in stucco covered come block. Just be sure you use the right size drill bit as recommended by the manufacturer

I purchased these to hold down a gazebo we purchased and build on our concrete patio. I borrowed a Dewalt hammer drill and used the recommended drill bit for the screws. After drilling all the holes I went through and vacuumed each hole out AND blew out the holes with my 30 gallon air compressor. The screws are 3" in length and the footing for the gazebo is 1/2". The depth of the hole was drilled to spec.Out of the 15 screws only ONE fully seated. The rest I couldn't fully seat and they all stick up at least 1/2" to an 1". I used a impact drill to install the screws. I went back and tried to tighten them all down more with a 1/2 ratchet with no luck. Lastly I tried a ratchet with a section of pipe and ended up breaking the head of one of the bolts off and gave up.I don't know if it's something I did or the screws but I'm not impressed. I did everything by the box, watched videos, read online, read the instructions multiple times, but no luck. We wanted the ability to remove the gazebo if we moved later on down the road and opted for this method. Bad choice.

They were poor quality. They didn't want to go into the concrete using a small impact. Stripped out by the time they were down in cement. Loose afterwards.
