I bought this because it was inexpensive and functional for what I wanted to do - try making sushi for the first time. As a beginner, I'm not picky about my tools and I frankly don't know enough to recognize where it's lacking or excelling, but for what I used it for, it did the job. The sushi came out fine and the mat and spoon were both in good condition upon delivery. I like how useful it was for the price.

The quality is excellent. Definitely a good buy for someone starting out. It doesn't look or feel cheap at all, no one would ever know!

i bought two of these kits, one for me and one for the girlfriend so we could make sushi together, its a nice kit and i suppose if you actually knew how to make sushi it would work fairly well, but for the inexperienced first timer its not as easy as you would think. i have since bought a sushi bazooka and that thing definitely makes it easier,

Great little sushi kit. I needed a rice spoon, but I thought I'd pick up this combo, so my wife can also roll sushi with me in the kitchen. It's always fun to make and roll your own sushi, so having the extra bamboo roller has just made making dinner fun.

Great product. Came with an instruction manual with directions to make the perfect sushi! I just needed the mat because mine got wet and went moldy, and this was a great price! Definitely recommend it!

My son LOVES sushi, so I got this for him. He used it tonight and absolutely loves it, he has used other kits before and says this is the best of what he has tried and he was able roll it perfectly. Great Product!!"I received this item at a discounted rate in exchange for a review. Regardless the opinions found herein are based on my experiences with the product."

I picked this sushi kit based on the high customer rating. It turns out to be a great disappointment. The sushi roller is made of flimsy sticks tied loosely together by 5 strings. And the strings at the tie-end are hanging out carelessly; they didn't bother to trim the knot. It is a typical made-in-china crappy product. I cannot understand why/how it received a 4 and half star rating.

First time making sushi, and I've been addicted to making it ever since! The mat does what its supposed to do, I see no reason to spend more money on a "better" sushi mat.Interesting tip for those that like to make sushi with the rice on the outside: Most people wrap their mat in saran-wrap so the rice doesn't stick. The problem with this is that the saran-wrapping part is actually sort of a pain and often comes off in the rolling process. My solution: Get a big, ziploc freezer bag and put your mat in it. Not only does it do the same thing, its easier to deal with and never comes out of the bag. Also, you don't have to waste plastic because you can just wash the outside of the ziploc bag.

I got this for Christmas and was surprises at how great the quality is (compared to the price), the wooden (bamboo) paddle is very sturdy and well constructed, and the Sushi Mat is well tied together and holds up perfectly. The book included gives basic information for rolling sushi, however, the internet or full book with pictures might help me out better since I am new to this.In the end I am amazed at the quality and strength these items have, and look forward to many years with these items rolling my own sushi!!!

Sushi rollers are pretty cheap in general, but I was too lazy to go to Chinatown and pick one up so I thought I'd try my luck online. I was surprised that the roller is bumpy on both sides, and the string holding it together is very loose. I've made sushi before on better rollers of the same price, decided to go to chinatown to pick one up instead. That said it's not unusable, but you need to put a layer of cling wrap on the roller if you don't wanna get sushi rice stuck between the bamboo. Also you won't get very tight rolls, but with a little practice it'll work.In general I was pretty disappointed, probably will just give this away.

I bought this little kit for the bamboo mat. I couldn't locate it in my local stores so I purchased this as a larger group of items with free shipping. The spoon that comes with it is cheap wood; as for the price you would expect that. It takes on colors and stains. The bamboo mat is of good quality with no problems. I wrap mine in saran wrap when using to make life much easier. The pamphlet is a neat additive, but a book is recommended to be used then this pamphlet to get started.
