The smoke detectors in our house had reached their expiration date. (Yes! The Americium ionization source does have an expiration!) These Kidde smoke detectors were an exact replacement. I had all 4 changed out in less than 30 minutes! Very pleased with the new units.

Model P12040 is Advertised. Model i12040ACA is shipped. These 2 Models DO NOT have interconnect compatabiliy. it says so on the box and on the manual.Cannot replace just one model P12040 with a model i12040ACA because it will not send or receive signals from the other units. Must replace all your detectors with Model i12040ACA. Also be sure your interconnected CO and Heat alarms are compatable.Amazon needs to correct the advertisment listing for the Model being shipped.

Perfect upgrade/replacement for original smoke detectors. Easy install, using a ladder, the existing wiring harness, a screwdriver and a a set of pliers (optional). They all look great and we are good until 2036!Oh, for the perfect job, remove the existing base, paint the ceiling and then install the new base and unit.

Whenever I replace my detectors (every 10 years max) these are the ones I get.... Never an issue and we sleep well knowing these are working for us.....

I hired a contractor to install 5 replacement smoke alarms. From start to finish, the job was done in 30 minutes. Smoothest work I've had done in years. I concur that Kidde alarms are easy to install.
