UPDATE2: New smoke detector arrived as promised. Installed with no problem. Have not had any false alarms for the past 3 days. Will update again after a few months.UPDATE: I contacted Kidde via their website. They agreed to send a replacement. Hopefully, it will not have the same issue. Will report on this again. Upgraded to 4 stars.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Worked great for the first 5 months. Then the false alarms started. Cleaned the sensors with some compressed air and thought this might solve the problem. Unfortunately, not. False alarms started again. Maybe I got a lemon. Would love to exchange if possible.

It paired up to hone assistant and it also comes with an app. It wires up with a pigtail to the house wiring, and plugs in.

Purchased two alarms. One works well, no issues. Really happy to have a WiFi smoke detector capable of provided notifications. The second alarm has been alerting me in the app to a low battery (brand new, shouldn’t be doing that), and now is now triggering itself and alerting me in the app that smoke has been detected when no smoke has been detected... Customer service was not interested in replacing the detector and having me send back the malfunctioning detector for their review. It’s a new device, and they are convinced it shouldn’t be doing what it’s doing. Wouldn’t purchase these again despite their potential. Wait a few years or try a brand more committed to delivering customers a solid, bug free device/app.

I had been searching for a 2-wire WiFi compatible smoke detector / carbon monoxide / air quality alarms for ages and ages and was pleased to have finally found this device from a trusted name like KIDDE.Installation was a breeze when replacing an existing older 2-wire model. Twist and remove old device, unplug, remove mount (2 screws), install phone app, scan qr on back of new device, install new mount (2 screws), pull device battery tab, plug-in, twist into place, connect new device to WiFi using the app.I installed a total of 6 of the standard smoke alarms, a couple of the smoke / carbon monoxide, and a couple of the air quality devices and can now worry less. These devices are LOUD. They will wake your entire neighborhood up.They come with a 10 year lithium battery! The app is simple.All-in-all I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend to other people wanting to continue building their smart home.

I'm always a little concerned when yet another device wants to attach itself to my home wifi. So few of these devices offer any real information or value. This smoke detector does in that it always easy to see what the air quality is in your room (in our case, the kitchen) and understand temp and humidity too. I will likely, over time, update all my smoke detectors to this type. I love the feedback and real-time monitoring it provides.

These have way too many false alarms. The first time I had one I could shut it off with my phone and it wasn’t that big of a deal except that it did wake my kids up in the middle of the night. The next few times I was not able to shut it off with the app. It told me too much smoke in the house and it couldn’t shut them off and I had to leave the house. The problem is there was no smoke, no fire, nothing wrong at all…it was just going off at 2:37 AM For no reason made my kids scared and one of them peed themselves, because she were so scared. It’s a three-story house and had to go all the way down to the first floor and there’s no reason that we should have to do this. These things are supposed to be better than the old style non-smart smoke detectors. I had to uninstall all of these in order to get the sound to stop. This is an absolutely terrible product. I wish I could get my money back. I waited way too long to leave this type of review. It’s been about a year now. Do not buy these save yourself the money, the headache and the hassle.

I bought a full set of these for my house because I take fire safety seriously and wanted a smart smoke detector that would alert me remotely. Since I have installed these the rate of nuisance alarms has quadrupled. Everything from humidifiers, cleaning products, vaporizers, and plenty of meals have set these off. On average, it’s happening two or three times a month. It sometimes won’t allow you to disable them when you do sometimes I have to go directly through the app, but there’s latency. Adds chaos to an already chaotic situation where you’re running around the house trying to get the smoke detectors turned off at 1 o’clock in the morning and you have to log into an app so you can press the button on there repeatedly until one of them goes through and hushes the alarms. The hush mouth is incredibly short only a couple of minutes. This doesn’t even give enough time to “clear out” whatever set it off. So it’s a game of smoke detector roulette where you’re unsure if it’s going to go off again after hush mode deactivates. I am no longer startled by the alarms going off and my husband just slept through the last one so It’s doing the opposite effect of what a smoke detector should do.When I was looking into them, I saw some of the reviews about the nuisance alarm and I figured it’s better to have one that’s too sensitive than the other way around. I was wrong. Also, when I was installing them, I noticed a hard disable switch that would completely deactivate the alarm permanently, and I thought to myself a weird feature? Now I understand why they Implemented that. If I had paid any less than what I paid for them, they would already be in the trash.

I ordered this to replace an old Kidde smoke detector that died. I wanted one that also had carbon monoxide detection and I was hoping to either get one where I don’t need to replace batteries, or it would take a 9V battery. I had issues in the past with AA batteries, and they would pop out. This was a breeze to connect, and no need for battery changing. I did have to change out the base to ensure it would fit, but screws went in the same holes and it was easy. I also love the fact that I can get the app on my phone and know what is happening if the detector would start the alarm.
