My grandma just had knee surgery. We were unwilling to pay almost $700 for the PureWick Urine System especially because the catheters needed are $200 for a pack of 30. We bought the PureWick Accessory Kit for $50, the $200 catheters, & this vacuum pump. It got the job done. I’ll add an update after using it multiple times to determine if it’s good for long term usage.***if you or your loved one has incontinence/upcoming surgery that will limit leg mobility & have Medicare, try to get the Dr to write a prescription for the PureWick to cover the costs. We wished her Dr had more provisions for her post-op care so we’re learning as we go.

I'm glad to write this review so I can set some things straight. I am using this pump with a Buchner funnel and sieving material suspended in water or a water like solution. I am using 15 micron hydrophilic paper filters. For purposes like this, it seems to work just fine. A gravity completion of sieving which took 5-10 mins in some cases, now with vacuum assist takes about 8 seconds.*** NOTE: I know there is an audience out there which wants to use vacuum assisted pumps for doing cannabis related distillations or oil drawing through a filter or similar. Point being - this kind of pump works well for assisting highly viscous liquids like "water" or similar through filtration. If you're looking to pull "oil" or heavy thick liquids through filtration, this likely will not get the job done. Thats what they make $300+ vacuum assist pumps for.

This pump is built like a little fish tank pump on the inside and is approximately the same size, but it does what I need it to. If you need to filter more viscous mixtures you will require a stronger pump with a higher KPa. Unlike some who have posted.. I did not have any loose components inside, but I did have to adjust the armature on the inside to increase suction power a bit, as it did not meet the listed specs of 20 KPa out of the box.. not a problem.. I'm quite accustomed to this sort of mechanism and will purchase a proper pump in time. This was a must have for now --Gotta Have it immediately kind of situation. I recommend pre-filtering your solution if you are using a 20 micron filter or smaller (much smaller would not be compatible with this pump. If you are on a super tight budget, and are doing ultra light duty and or pre-filtering as well.. This pump will do. I really wanted something above 150KPa.. Thank you all the same. It saved the day... so to speak.Have a Blessed Day

This product wishes it sucked, because that's what it's supposed to do. But it doesn't. I wish I hadn't missed the refund window because it is now unable to be used. It always had a loud motor and then stopped functioning. It continued to make noise but wasn't vacuuming and I definitely had it set up correctly. I would say this item is cheaply made and not worth buying.

Works pwrfect for my home lab filtration. The hose was a little flimsy so I just shed another I had.

Nice little pump, very quiet, which doesn't seem to mind continuous duty runs at all. No overheat problems, and convenient to have the switch in the power cord.I have an incontinent invalid family member to care for, and I am using this pump to provide vacuum for an external urinary catheter rather than for lab filtration. The vacuum is only about 2.9 PSI, barely makes a sucking sound, but this seems quite adequate to move a pint or two of liquid into a collection vessel. Vac pumps sold for this application cost about 4 or 5 x what this one does. I'm very happy with this pump.

I’d like to know how the reviewer was able to connect the 5 or 7 mm tube to the large barb on the Buchner Funnel which comes with a 50 mm od tube?
