Wonderful lap desk that I use multiple times each day. Large surface and it's comfortable on my legs. I also found it handy when making notes in odd places where no table or desk space is available.

Very high quality. Fits a large laptop (17" screen) no issues at all with room to maneuver your mouse. The comfy under-cushion is an added bonus.

I bought this for my dad as he likes to type with the keyboard on his lap, which I have also found quite ergonomic and had a tray similar to this which was nice to put the keyboard on. I wanted to buy him the most high-quality one I could find. He seemed to like it when he opened it, but he doesn't really use it as intended. He might occasionally use it for his laptop, but he doesn't use it at his desk with his external keyboard - I think because he said it is quite heavy. Aside from the weight, it is nice and sturdy. However, the weight makes it a bit less ergonomic. Update: I visited since the initial review and tried this out myself - I don't find it heavy at all and it is comparable to a bamboo one I have at home, but the one I have is filled with styrofoam beads and I find the one I bought my dad to be more stable and comfortable.

I just got my lap desk and it is BEAUTIFUL!!! It is sturdy and comfy and SPACIOUS! However i noticed my shirt kept snagging on the edge of the lap desk and a closer look revealed the wood was split. Sadly had to set up a return/replacement. Hopefully my replacement piece is not defective.4 stars because other than that it is exactly what i was looking for. Also this is my 5th lapgear lap desk and never ever had any issues with our prior pieces! Got the first 4 during the start of the pandemic when kids were learning at home, kids each got one husband got one and i got one and only reason i got this one for me is because my husband hogs and uses both his and my old one! They are all still in great shape almost 4 years later.Update. 5 STARS! Received my replacement piece and it is perfect!

This lap table is made of real bamboo! It is very sturdy and fits my 15" MacBook pro with ease. The cousins props up under your legs and provide great heat reflection. Your device will need rubber grips on the bottom to prevent things from sliding off as there is no rail or padded top—nothing to worry about.

This thing has been my favorite lapdesk out of I think 7 I've purchased. The surface is just the right amount of slip/non slip for mouse use. I'm a drafter so it gets a workout, you can see where the stain is wearing off, but I've done that on my hard MDF formica desk at work, too.I have a big Dell CAD workstation that gets hot even without venting, and this desk has a solid surface, so I have the famous ventilated folding hard plastic lapdesk in between for airflow, but it isn't very comfy. So if you have a laptop that runs hot, you'll need some kind of spacer for airflow, but you'd need that for an actual desk, too.I like the cutout handle versus the strap ones, I like the bean shape, I like the tweedy non slick fabric, and I like the look of the stained bamboo, even though I've dinged it up tossing it in the car for countless trips and used it for much of my working life the last 4 years.About the only gripe I have is that the styrofoam bead padding is too thin, but it looks like they've addressed that in the 4 years since I bought mine. Getting ready to order another after I finish this review. There's nothing wrong with the other, I'm just tired of wrangling the lapdesk between my work laptop and my freelance one. Now I'll have one for each, I can't imagine why I didn't think of it before now.

Very comfortable to use and nice to look at. Only con is that the wood is a bit rough across all the edges. I can see where it could easily catch on the fabric of my shirt and cause pulls. I may try some light sandpaper to smooth it.

Though there are no pockets underneath like our old lapgear desk, which lasted for nearly a decade--it feels nice, and is much more expensive-looking, and only cost a bit more than the old one. The other big plus is that it easily holds a 17.6" laptop AND a mouse; it also works great with my wireless keyboard and mouse while using a desktop. The cushions underneath are much better than the old ones, and provide a good deal more stability. The dark stained finish and upholstery weight fabric make the lap desk's feel and appearance particularly fine.

I love this thing! I can use my wireless keyboard and mouse or laptop from anywhere in the house. In bed, a chair, my couch, you name it. It fits perfectly and comfortably on my lap. It is also great for eating in front of the tv without messing up the couch. I highly recommend!

Purchased this desk in the dark finish so it would match the finish on our tables and also wood floors in our family room. It is larger than most and has a slight curve which allows you to fit it close to your body (stomach) and somewhat wraps around giving full access to your left and right of the entire surface. The description make you think it may be too large when in effect it is perfect size. It can easily hold a laptop or iPad and still have room for a notepad or if needed a mouse pad of track pad, journal book or similar size object. It does NOT have a fixed edge piece to keep things from rolling or falling off. That was a PLUS for me as I did not want the edge piece as it always hits my wrist when trying to type. With a rubber backed placemat you could also use this for eating. It has a cutout handle at the top so it is easy to grab for use. The pillow on the bottom is beanbag style so it easily forms to your lap/legs and can be shifted as needed if you want to place at a slight angle. Very, very comfortable and light. Glad we purchased and my wife has now claimed it for her use! On a side note, Lapgear has a "sister company" called Rossie Home that is owned by the same company. Rossie Home also has several items that match this lap desk - similar color wood finishes and same fabrics used on the pillows. Bed Trays, eating trays, upgraded lap desks, etc., All the same PREMIUM finish and features. All a little more expensive but all worth the money if you are looking for something that is a premium wood product in various wood tone colors. Would buy again and again.

Needed something with length enough for a 17 inch laptop and a mouse. But also no so wide that I couldn’t fit it on my lap as I’m only 5 feet tall.Worked great

My husband is a high school teacher and loves to do his marking away from his "desk" (aka, our dining room table!) so this lap desk, a recent birthday present, has given him a lot more flexibility and it's much more comfortable than using a binder! We've had a few less expensive ones in the past but they have had a smaller surface and tend to look less-than-pristine very quickly, leading to replacement sooner than desired. I was hesitant to make the purchase, largely due to the price, but I don't have a single regret as I am confident that we will get many years out of this model.
