I've never used a different WDT tool, so take this with a grain of salt... I think this works wonderfully and don't see a need for a more expensive one. Nicely made, especially for how cheap it is.

I originally got a wooden one that looks like a lip stick but that didn't last and didn't spread the coffee out evenly. This one does. Also feels much better quality. The magnet keeps it out the way. And if you ask me it's worth spending a bit more for this one.

This seems to do an excellent job of breaking up any clumps in the coffee grounds before brewing a shot of espresso. It came with a few replacement needles, but they seem unlikely to ever be needed. The magnet on the handle is very strong, but the stainless steel on my espresso machine isn't magnetic. So I glued a magnet to the tiled backsplash next to the expresso machine and that works great.

My new best friend. I switched to a bottomless portafilter and was having some extraction problems with channeling and messy pulls. This cleared everything right up. Perfect pulls every time and no more splatter. Magnet is great and keeps it secure and out of the way when not in use. Very pleased with it.

Amazing. I was using just a straw before to break up all the grounds in the coffee. Game changer and the magnet is perfect and comes with a few extras too.

Works well but the tines bend easily. Spring steel would be nice. On the other hand the cost is very reasonable.
