These scissors are very helpful for students with decreased hand strength and finger coordination. They assist with cutting and give students confidence to participate and learn the mechanics of cutting. Bought in a bundle, the price just cannot be beat. I would highly recommend for scissor training.

I love these scissors! I purchased a box for my daughter’s preschool class. They are great for children just learning how to use scissors. They are adjustable and can be used as regular scissors, also!

Trying to teach children how to use scissors appropriately and accurately is no small feat. If you have tried before, then you know. A couple years ago I discovered these scissors and they have been indispensable ever since. Maped spring assisted scissors are for children who are just learning how to cut. They have blunt tips for safety, but unlike some other safety scissors I have tried, these maintain their edge through multiple uses. The spring assist action is wonderful as children start to learn the cutting motion. But also, they can "age up" with them since the spring assist can be "turned off' If you point the arrow to the right, it activates the spring assist. If you point it up, it turns it off. Other spring assist scissors are just that - spring assist scissors. This scissor is a great pair to have on hand since it can be both assisted and not. Students I have tried it with love the smooth action, and they look pretty much just like regular scissors. I have had multiple teachers ask me where I get these scissors and how much they are. I have had a couple teachers even buy sets for their own classes! These scissors are definitely worth the money to buy for younger kids! I would recommend these over other spring assisted scissors on the market today.

The scissors cut well but the little tab that bounces the scissors back is too flimsy. After 2 or 3 uses the bounce back tab no longer bounces back. I am not able to use these scissors as intended,so the hunt for good cutting scissors and good bounce back trainer continues.

Bought two to try out with my preschoolers who have special needs. These quickly became my and the children's favorites. They cut well for both the right and left handed students. I was a little concerned about the spring assist as it seemed a bit flimsy. However, the spring assist works great. Have had the first two for a year and the spring assist still works as well as it did when new. I have other spring assist scissors that are for younger children, designed to cut only paper, but they are frustrating for beginning scissor users as they have to be held just right to cut paper. An argument could be made for scissors teaching correct angle, but success builds confidence and increases interest and we can gently correct angle. We do supervise these closely with children who are not safety conscious. I have replace the regular and the other spring assist for these. I still have other options including loop scissors, left hand only scissors, and safety scissors because nothing works for every child, but these are the ones I would recommend as top choice.
