Our small size chair mats (30” x 48” and 36” x 48”) are shipped flat and our larger sizes (47" x 53", 48” x 51” and 48” x 60”) are shipped rolled.
Once unrolled, polycarbonate chair mats should revert to their flat state almost instantly.

Bought these a few months ago to replace ones bought from Staples that had cracked over the years. We chose this one because we got two for a reasonable price and they shipped flat. The box it shipped in was a complete mess, but the actual product was undamaged (fortunately). We have two office areas on carpet surfaces. One is medium carpet density, but the other carpet is high grade and plush. These mats are very thin and I was worried that they would break the first time we sat in our chairs. But so far they have performed very well - no dents, no cracks, and they seem to stay in place fairly well. Maybe when it comes to chair mats, thinner is better because it creates less strain on the polycarbonate material. Pleasantly surprised by the performance of these chair mats so far!

I am a retired resident in a Life Care Community -- not a work-at-home type. I bought this chair mat to protect the carpet and to allow me easy movement at my desk. I also replaced the wheels on my chair for better load distribution -- oh, and the load is about 160 lbs.For the first several months the mat was great, but then I noticed small cracks developing. You can see them clearly in the third photo. Given the nature of the materials, these cracks have gotten worse, and will continue to do so until I am forced to replace it. I am very disappointed -- less than a year of use on a product that I thought would be good for five years or so.

I decided to spend a little more on this Polycarbonate mat to see if it would last longer than the budget mats I usually purchase, and which usually get wheel indentations pretty quickly. The mat arrived in flat packaging so I was able to put it in place and begin using it immediately. The good news is that after two months on my medium rug, there are no wheel divots and my chair still glides smoothly across the mat. The bad news is that the mat is cracking, as shown in the photos. It started about five weeks after my purchase so it was too late for a return. It The mat currently has six cracks. I'm still using it and my chair still glides smoothly, but since the cracks go all the way through the mat, I know it won't be long before it has to be replaced. Maybe these mats do better on low carpets, but it has not lived up to my expectations on my medium carpet.Update: After cutting my foot on one of the cracks, I had to throw this mat away. This was a very disappointing purchase. The mat didn't last any longer than one of the much cheaper mats would have.

So far so good! We've had this about 4 days. It's very, very sturdy, no indention's yet. Good smaller size. It's not moving around or slipping like I've read in other reviews, possibly because of our plush carpet. But that's the other good thing, our carpet and pad seem to be thicker than the recommended specifications yet there's not dipping etc. I'm very impressed so far. It came shipped well in a very large, flat box. I preferred this shipping method to rolled, since it indicated it was a thicker pad. Highly recommend, thick and strong. Will update review if it starts to crack/dip. UPDATE: 8 months of use daily, sometimes 8+ hours a day and there is no sign of wear. No indentations whatsoever where the wheels on my chair sit constantly. Male and female of average weight are using it. Great Purchase! UPDATE: Over 5 years later with constant use 8+ hours a day with 2 medium/large people on thick pile carpet, rolling around only now started to crack a bit. Best purchase ever, purchasing a new one now. So glad it's still available!

Excellent product. I've only used it for several hours as it just arrived today, but I can already tell it is far superior to my previous chair mat.The first thing I noticed was how the mat was shipped. It didn't come curled up in a long rectangular box. Instead, it was packaged in what looked like two large pieces of cardboard stapled together. It sounds odd, but it got the job done. There were no damages to the mat and it was kept flat so I don't have to let it uncurl for several days!The mat itself is very firm and perfect for my medium pile carpet. The first time I rolled my chair over it I could immediately tell the improvement over my previous mat. Since this mat is more firm, it allows my chair to roll around more easily. I am 165lbs and I sat in it for about 6 hours without putting any indents or dips into the mat. It's nice because you can position the chair exactly where you want it without rolling back into the indented areas (an issue I had with my previous chair mat).Pros: Delivered flat, no need to unroll for several days. Firm construction allows for easy rolling with your chair.Cons: None yet. I will update my review if I find any!
