I’ve been considering a portable CD option, but haven’t really seen anything fitting the size range I need – something that could work for a nightstand. When I saw this unit, it looked like a feasible option.The unit arrived quickly, was well packaged and worked out the box – played my officials as well as CDR/RW discs without any problems, it's easy to use, the radio picked up a few stations and it’s compact. Sound wise? I was never expecting much, so it fits my simple needs. While I like the option, I doubt I’d ever utilize batteries though.Overall? I wanted a basic cd player and I GOT it.

MX BCD100 model. Very light plastic-ee feeling. It works. CD works. But no great sound. There is no front display for radio stations. You have to guess. Displays only the CD tracks. Cute retro look. I wouldn't buy again if I had the choice.

So right out of box this device is awesome and comes with ease of use. Plus the sound quality is great, especially for the smaller size. We have been quite pleased with this good looking system that creates a loud sound and it plays my home-made CD's just fine. Theres also the radio that allows you to feel a little connected to society wherever you are without having to reach for your phone. It's lightweight which means it is very portable and yet it doesn't feel cheaply made. This Boombox comes very highly recommend to take out with you camping, fishing, or even listening to jams at the pool. Memorex never fails!

OK, it's a retro design, I get that. Its main function is so we can play our stacks of CD's from their heyday. And it does allow that. And nice to hear those disks spin again and come back to life. For that it works. The radio function is comparable to a cheap radio of its time with the frequency numbers on the turn knob itself. For the retro purpose I it's OK, but not ideal. Disks load as expected and it doesn't take long for it to load, about the same as can be expected from such a unit of its day.The unit itself is light, but not too light, it does have a bit of heft to it, but on the light side of that. The looks are fine for its retro look, and the button system works, though it does feel plastically.The cons: well there are 2, and they interplay against each other. 1: is speaker quality, it's not the best. It does give you a base control that helps but it's not the full range of sound that I would expect, nor remember from my youth. That alone can be forgiven but for the second issue 2: There is no line out (headphone). There is a line in, but giving an option for a line out would allow so much more in terms of the speakers we can play this on. That would allow this to really come alive with allowing us to hook this up to something like a sound bar or other higher quality speaker set. I think that this is somewhat of a miss and why I took that star off.But with that one drawback, it is a nice, small retro CD player who's largest benifit is to bring those CD's you have in storage back to life.

This boombox is quite a bit smaller than I was expecting, but still just as full featured. I will say the size does affect the sound a little, but still has decent sound for its size.The CD player works well, but I got it mostly for the AM/FM radio. I’m happy to report that the radio picks up better than most.Recommended.
