Was forced to buy this after a guy from the demo crew we work with used my original one and broke it. I stopped what I was doing that moment and bought this to replace it. I normally only let people from my own crew use it and they are always surprised at how smooth this guy runs especially given that it cuts everything like butter. I can't say enough about this saw. The power to weight ration is pretty impressive. I'm sure this isn't the lightest reciprocating saw on the market. But, I feel like it should be heavier for how much of a monster it is. Its gone up against corded and cordless saws from other manufactures that my coworkers use and I have them questioning if they sure delve into the Metabo HPT line just for this saw alone.

I use this recipe saw and a Diablo carbide metal blade for thick metal to cut 6x6x3/8 thick angle iron . It goes through it faster than the bandsaw . Metabo 36 volt stuff is beastly .

Have the predecessor from Hitachi and this blows it away with far less vibration, much faster cutting power and durability for long jobs. Can replace a chain saw for many jobs.

Yes, it's big and heavy, but it really performs. I've had two other battery powered saws that did pretty well on light duty jobs. But this one equals the biggest corded saws I've used. It's really good for trimming trees, even cutting down trees up to 8" diameter. It will overheat with extended heavy cutting, but the electronics will turn it off to cool without damage.

This thing is like a chain saw. I'm sure it works awesome, but I never use it because it's too big and heavy.

I have the metabo 18v lvp sawzall and that thing wrecks. I was so impressed that I wanted to try it the 36v version. And indeed, it's a powerhouse. But it's very heavy compared to the amount of additional power out brings to the table. The 36v seems to be noticeably better at cutting through metal but for wood, the difference isn't huge. I've used the 18v to cut down a lot of small trees and the 36v is a little faster but it doesn't make up for the added fatigue of using a tool of its weight. Saying that, this is more a review to dinner a light on there power of the 18v lvp than to make the 36v hvp look bad. They're both excellent tools, but for regular usage, the lvp is the clear winner imo.

This is a great tool, I mostly use it with a pruning blade to keep my atv trails open. I find it is better than a chainsaw, because I can jam the blade right into the ground to cut small trees and roots off. It feels like the blade speed is faster than my other cordless reciprocating saws. It is heavy to carry after a while, but I expected that with a tool this powerful.

This thing is a beast. Chews through lumber like nothing, variable speed, and oscillating option as well. Also has a Rafter hook. Great purchase will not disappoint.
