NOTE: Someone said it didn’t work with their motherboard, and I think I might know the issue. For a minute, it looked like it didn’t fit mine. But then I saw the problem. My motherboard has a second mount standoff for shorter M.2 drives. I had to remove the second standoff to use this heatsink. My MB came with a heatsink, but not a good one -- and it has installation issues. So, I needed something else. I see lots of wild options here at Amazon, with heat pipes, even fans. I didn't think I needed all that. Just a decent little heatsink that is easy to install and not cost too much -- and this fits the bill. The main heatsink is aluminum, but the wrapper that wraps under the drive is thin steel. I doubt it provides much thermal conductivity in and of itself. I know it can't be too thick, but it could be a little thicker than it is. And ideally made of aluminum. That would be even better, though maybe cost a tad bit more. One other reviewer said that even though the product says it works with double sided SSDs, it didn’t work for him because the thermal pads made it too thick. I’m pretty sure that if the chips on your SSD are all perfectly level, (mine are,) you can probably forgo the thermal pads and just use standard thermal paste. Eliminating the thermal pads would make it a lot thinner. To improve thermal conductivity, it would be best to remove the SSD’s sticker if yours has such. People say not to do that since it could void your warranty. But when was the last time you ever actually made use of a computer warranty? I guess that would be your call, but removing the sticker would certainly improve thermal conductivity.I'm only giving 4 stars since the wrapper is thin steel, but I understand that it was designed for a specific price point. Overall a good value for the price.

I have an older home-built AMD PC from 2019.I did some minor upgrades this past week which included a second m.2 drive to expand my storage. I got this little heatsink to keep the new drive healthy. I did some testing and realized my old m.2 WD drive was getting a bit hot at times hitting 61 deg. when running CrystalDiskMark. The old drive was using the flat heatsink that came with the ASUS mobo but that didn't seem to be cutting it now that i was taking a closer look. So, i ordered a second heatsink for the old greybeard and, as you can see from the screen grabs, it dropped 5deg. in temp and got a very mild, but consistent, speed improvement. A great investment to keep your SSD healthy, even if the mfg. says no heatsink is needed. Both packages came with the heatsink (2pc), a mini screwdriver, 3 thermal pads (2 needed + 1 extra), 7 screws to fasten the 2 pieces of the heatsink together (3 on each side + 1 extra)

Used two of these in a recent build removing the stock heatsinks. This was done more for aesthetics then anything else. I have used similar before and they are very cost effective, built well, and fit fine with quick release m.2 slots. Nice bit of color and should provide decent cooling for my pcie gen 4 drives.

Works like a charm. Nice product and was as described in the ad. The pricing was fair and no problems easy to install. Thanks

This is a great low profile heat sink for your SSDs. It was a perfect fit based on the information provided in a cramped space on my motherboard and GPU.

I bought two of these for my NVMe's and they were a breeze to install and I haven't had them for more than a week but it's nice to know that the life of my SSD will be extended by not overheating by having this on it. Would definitely buy again/more/recommend.

I used this for a WD SN850 on an Asus Tuf X570 Gaming + board (using the slot nearest the CPU) and had no issues. I have a Noctua cooler on the CPU.This heatsink came with everything I needed, keeps my drive at a good temperature, and was $10-$15 cheaper than the official Western Digital one.On my SN850 I took the serial # sticker off and put it on the bottom (underside -nearest the mobo) of the little heatsink caddy. That way if I ever need that serial number I can get to it without disturbing any of the thermal pads. This also keeps the chips next to the thermal pads instead of having a sticker in between.
