This is a great push block system- very well thought-out and very well built. It certainly makes cutting small pieces safer, pieces that I normally would not attempt to cut on the table saw without a custom setup. It is equally useful on the router table, again mostly for small parts. It does take time to set up the push block, but certainly less time than it would take to custom-make a jig. Will it take the place of push sticks and other table saw safety related accessories? No. For long rips I will still use my feather board, splitter, extension tables and push stick. For cross cuts and small pieces I will use my table saw sled and its accessories. Is it a necessity? No. Someone starting out would be better served getting a how-to book such as Jim Tolpin’s Table Saw Magic and learning about table saw safety and how to make basic safety accessories instead of buying this expensive gadget.

This jig is the ultimate one to have for table saw safety. It comes with every attachment you'll ever need to do different cuts on your table saw. The steps are easy to follow to assemble it, but there are A LOT of steps if you want to assemble everything that comes with this set. I assembled all but a few of the add-ons and it took me about an hour to do so.

This is the complete system! This has all the attachments available for the GRR-Ripper, including the 1/8" leg, the SafeRip Kit (for quick accurate placement of the center leg, the gravity heel, stabilizing plate, clear chip deflector and handle bridge). This product maximizes grip on your workpiece, ensuring safety for cuts at the table saw, router table, jointer, and even at the bandsaw! Although I appreciate the completeness of the GRR-Ripper Max system, several attachments are not regular fixtures for my day to day use (the adjustable spacer and the 1/8" leg for example). I'm happy to have those, but I won't need these for the majority of my cuts. Some attachments can stay on all the time though for the vast majority of cuts, including the Safe Rip kit for the center leg, and the gravity heal. I like the Safe Rip Kit, it takes the visual inspection part of the equation out of setting the center leg out of the path of the blade. However, I found that it is not completely fail safe because the reference mark on in one direction will not be the same on the opposite end of the block because the leg thickness is different in that direction, this is only an issue because keeping the center leg perfectly parallel in the gripper isn't entirely automatic (it can be racked slightly). The gravity heal is my favorite feature attachment though! It's there at the end of the cut when you need it, but retracts when you place it in the center of the board. Without argument, the GRR-Ripper offers superior grip, control, and safety verses an ordinary push stick (especially considering it controls both the workpiece and the off cut). It vastly improves control and safety on smaller workpieces in particular (and maximizes material because even small off-cuts can be safely cut again). There was a fair bit of assembly required for this (as no pieces comes pre-assembled). Be sure to watch the videos provided by Microjig, I highly recommend them, they have a few really comprehensive videos that quickly demonstrate assembly and use of the tool. The videos may even be helpful if you are on the "fence" about purchasing the product. Although I've gone years without using the GRR-Ripper, I highly recommend it to any serious woodworker, especially those making regular cuts on smaller & narrow pieces.

I have been toying with getting one of these for several years, but always stopped at the thought; "Thats a lot of money for some cheap plastic and rubber padsA friend having a close call with a poteolife altering injury recently prompted me to give one a try. After all it's Amazon and returns are easy if I was disappointed upon arrivalI am NOT disappointed!First off the plastic that looks a bit cheap in photos is actually a very strong composite (glass filled nylon I believe) and the "rubber" feet are amazing. As I was assembling it, I tried it out on our kitchen island top which is 4' x 6'., With just the slightest downforce, I could not move it on the island surface. Were the top not thoroughly bolted down, I am assured I could've moved the whole thing with the grripper. The engineering throughout his logical easily adjustable for various work scenarios, and it just feels good and solid in the hand. For me to feel of a tool is an important thing and having trust in it, and I trust this thing..Literally, the only regret is that I didn't pick one up years ago. Does everything it claims to, and does it well.
