About this item

  • Size: Measures 29¼" wide at base x 16¼" deep x 6¼" tall, clears 3¼" under the 7 crossbars.
  • This grate allows the firewood to be lifted off the fireplace floor allowing air to better circulate.
  • Solid construction: 7 steel cross bars, 6 support legs to minimize sagging and prolong lifespan of unit. Made from 3/4" square solid steel measured from flat to flat. We do not measure our steel corner to corner like other grate manufacturers. Weighs 30 lbs.
  • Manufactured in the United States from U.S. sourced steel. This is not from overseas!
  • Hand MIG welded, not melted together like others.
  • No assembly required.

3/4" thick solid square bar steel fireplace grate. We don't mislead you and measure the steel diagonally to claim that it is thicker than it actually is like others do. Has good heft and weighs in at 30 lbs. Made in the United States by Grate Wall of Fire using domestic U.S. steel. Key features include MIG welds, and six support feet which minimize sagging and prolong grate lifespan. Do the other grates you are considering only have four feet? Beware, they won't last very long regardless of their claims of being so-called "Lifetime Grates."

Nice fireplace grate. Heavy duty, center span support, which will prevent sag regardless of burning temperatures. Good height to not only allow air flow, but still low enough to have keep the dropped coals red hot.

First and foremost, I'm not a regular review writer. I do it occasionally, but only when the product is truly exceptional. This is one of those occasions. I have a recreational fireplace in a sunroom that we use fairly regularly fall-spring. When we are using it, we keep it stoked for a few hours at a time, but occasionally we'll burn in it for most of a day. We mostly burn alder and maple, but some fir and cherry as well. Because the fireplace is the only source of heat in our sunroom, we keep the fire pretty hot. Our last grate was typical of the most of the inexpesive grates you see on Amazon. 1/2" iron, no center foot, five bars. We had it about four years and the center of the grate had sagged to the point that it was resting on the bottom of the fireplace. Time for a replacement. This Grate Wall of Fire specimen is outstanding. We purchased the 29" version and it fits our beautifully. We probably could have fit a slightly larger model in there, but I like having few inches of air space on each side, so this one is perfect. The bars are truly 3/4" measured on the flat, none of that ridiculous 3/4" measured corner-to-corner nonsense. Is anyone really fooled by that? This unit has a center foot, so I'm not worried about sagging...ever. The welds look excellent, it sits level. It's clear that these guys are making quality stuff. I've only burned on it a couple of times so I can't give a long-term review, but I have no concerns about the longevity. To the folks at Grate Wall of Fire: Well done!
