DISCDREAM 2 continues the clamshell design that is more suitable for portable devices, reducing the potential damage that may occur during the disc placement process. lt also features a new modernist contrast CMF design, and the surface is painted after molding to create a comfortable and soft texture.
Professional Audio CD Player Servo Architecture

Uses a professional CD laser head, Achieves excellent disc reading ability.
Double Shock Absorption:
The electronic buffer of the data buffer circuit is combined with an elastic-damping physical buffer to further reduce the influence of vibration on CD playback.

DISCDREAM 2 uses Cirrus Logic's flagship 32-bit MasterHlFl audio decoding chip to output pure high-quality analog signals.
Independent hi-fi dual-channel amplifier circuit delivers ample earphone-driving power for 3.5mm standard port.

3.5mm Stereo Headphone Output

DISCDREAM 2 features a 3.5mm stereo headphone output, providing 2Vrms/124mW undistorted output power when connected to a 32Ω load. lt can easily drive most in-ear headphones/earbuds and full-size headphones that are easy to drive.
Additional 3.5mm Multi-function Interface
In addition to its powerful single-ended headphone output. DISCDREAM 2 is equipped with a 3.5mm multifunctional interface that includes both digital optical output and analog linear output.
Users can utilize the analog linear output of the multifunctional interface to connect active speakers or an external pure amp/power amplifier to drive headphones that are difficult to drive.
The digital optical output can be connected to a DAC/AMP, speaker System, or other devices, providing more versatility.
Not only a Portable CD Player but also a USB Desktop Sound Card
DISCDREAM 2 Ultra is not only a truly portable hi-fi cD player, but also a desktop USB sound card.
It can support PCM decoding up to 32Bits/384kHz and DSD256 when used as a USB sound card.

The music sounds crisp and clear but it could have more base. There is no equalizer or tone control to adjust for different earbuds so make sure you are using the best.The unit is shock resistant so you can walk around with it, but it will require a pouch of some sort as it is not sleekly designed like the Discman, it is boxy.While it runs off of the battery, you can plug in the USB charging cord (no regular pronged plug) and use it while it is charging. It is easy to get pronged plugs with USB connections.The readout is easy to see, letting you know which track you are on and how charged the battery is.The Buttons are big and easy to use. The On-Off switch in the back is small but this prevents you from accidentally turning off the unit while listening to music.

Compact, easy to use, stylish, good audio sound; however the casing itself audibly vibrates when the disc is spinning. If one modestly squeezes the casing the sound is reduced. Standing near the machine with the volume low it can be plainly heard, another bump or two louder and it can’t.Follow-up: the mechanical noise seems to have lessened after several hours of play time. I’ll raise my rating to 4 stars.

Sieht toll aus, hat alles, was man braucht (Digitalausgang und eigene Super-Wandler + Kopfhörerverstärker, Akku). Als Gerät für unterwegs etwas klobig, auch wenn absolut schüttelfest. Aber bei mir steht er schick im Zimmer und spielt alles, auch noch die ältesten selbstgebrannten CDs, ohne Aussetzer. Bin begeistert (und das für einen Preis, wo man viel viel weniger erwarten könnte :-) ).

Excellent sound quality and battery life. Use this to listen to albums while working in the study or just vibing. Would not use as a portable CD player due to the top being a see through plastic and the top also doesn't lock closed while playing. I knew that when buying it so it's a non issue for me. Great built in amp for a range of headphones. Sound is neutral which is very nice because if you wan't to use it with a DAC it's easy to change the balance.

The looks on this are top notch. Full size window to see the disc spinning. Could stare at it for hours.Sadly, when I hooked it up to my headphone system, there was a very noticeable rolloff in the high frequencies when using the SPDIF output. The exact same CD played into the same DAC from a PC had no such issue.This is the same behavior as a similar portable CD player I tried before from a no name brand. My guess is the CD playback chipset responsible for SPDIF output is the same one.The analog outputs do sound fine, at least. If you plan on using the analog outputs only, then it might be worth. If you want to use it as a CD transport, stay away. Very disappointing.

Premetto subito che non ho acquistato il lettore per uso portatile ma per utilizzarlo con l'impianto di casa, era da molto tempo che cercavo un oggetto che racchiudere lettore CD e DAC senza rinunciare alla qualità, ce ne sono di altre marche ma sono prodotti di elevata gamma a costi piuttosto importanti oppure al contrario "giocattoli" che con l'hifi hanno poco a che vedere, il discdream 2 racchiude in sé tutte queste caratteristiche e devo dire che le racchiude molto bene.Come sorgente "liquida" utilizzo apple music ed i brani in loseless hanno preso nuova brillantezza, scena molto ben chiara e ottima definizione delle mediobasse. Come lettore CD é sinceramente sorprendente per la qualità che racchiude in un corpo così piccolo, ho riascoltato vecchi CD che veramente mi hanno stupito per il dettaglio acquisito.Consigliatissimo, un prodotto così potrebbe costare tranquillamente il doppio e varrebbe i soldi lo stesso.

I have it hooked up to my Hegel using the built in DAC in the Hegel (wich is a decent built in DAC) and the sound is just terrible muffled. I would not recommend this even as a cd-transport. Even if its cheap, i have a 15 year old Rotel CD-player that beats this any day.

Really nice little unit, purchased to use the optical out with my DAC as I have no analogue pre amp anymore.works well, solid build, great styling.My only gripe, and reason to drop a star is: For the price, a remote control would have been nice, however given its intended as a portable device it makes sense why it doesn't have one. but just sees a little on the pricey side for what it is.

The headphone sound is very good but best with efficient headphones and in-ear headphones. Sound is excellent using the optical output with external DAC. The unit operates totally silently and the controls work well. Although I like this I plan to upgrade to the Discdream 2 Ultra if it ever goes on sale so I can use the balanced headphone output for more power and likely better sound due to enhanced circuitry.I wish the lid had a magnet or latch to keep it from opening when the device is sideways or held upside down. The rechargeable battery does not seem to be replaceable but I assume it might be good for a couple of years depending on usage.
