We used this on beams for a timber framed shop. It's very sharp and did what we wanted to do. Great quality! Very pleased.

Outstanding Paring Chisel, “mic’s” out at exactly 1/2 inch wide, the blade is a full 9 3/8 inch along the flat to the edge… The bevel is flat ground at 20 degrees (perfect for paring)… The only thing I would possibly complain about is the quality and color of the wood for the handle… This chisel needs a very small amount of sharpening/tuning as can be expected of any quality hand tool…

This chisel is a well made product. It’s not a Lie-Nielsen or Veritas, but very good. It only took about 30 minutes on a 1000 grit stone to flatten the back. I’m glad I took a chance and didn’t resort to the 220 grit. Then it was short work to polish it through the grits to 12000 and then the same, but much faster for the bevel. The only negatives are the protective varnish on the blade that is even impervious to acetone. It has to be ground off. And lastly the handle, which although very functional is butt ugly. Maybe it was designed for a butt chisel? Anyway, for the price, it’s a great tool that I expect will last longer than me.

The chisel back is almost flat and the bevel required some stone work and power honing to remove factory grinding marks and achieve a good edge. Steps that are necessary and required for most chisels to perform accurately.

This chisel was suppose to arrive in early February. How about January 28 for a delivery date. The chisel itself was better than I expected. It was well crafted and solid, and it was sharp out of the package. But, I'll give it a once over just to be sure. I've needed a paring chisel for a while now. This one will do the trick. I just might have to buy the other sizes available.

I bought this chisel since I had needed to cut off some plugs that were too close to an obstruction to get a sander or router to. It was too far away from the edge to use a standard chisel if I wanted to use the back as my guide(which I did). So I bought this chisel for the length. The chisel was sharp, although not as sharp as most I have purchased. However, that is not a big problem since sharpening chisels is a frequent task anyway.
