Some say UV filters are a must-have, but I differ. They're not a total necessity but it is a fact that you can never go wrong with a good UV filter, Neewer's included.This square filter is compatible with any matte box or holder that is designed to hold 4" x 5.65" filters.There is no distortion to the image whatsoever.My favorite aspect of this is the case it comes in, which is labeled. This will make it stand out amongst the variety of other filters I already own, that way it's easy to find.Highly recommended!

Took a couple of pictures with synthetically horrible conditions to try and see any differences with this filter on and off. Couldn't see a single one. Pixel peeping, zooming, blowing out exposures, couldn't see basically anything different. That means it's doing its job (probably).

Neewer continues to provide another quality item.Glass filter with multiple coatings, I could not see any distortion or color shifts. Testing it on a Lumix S5 II outdoors. I prefer glass filters, I find they provide a better result.It fits the Smallrig Matte box that I have. The soft case that it comes with to store it in is very nice. Labeled on the outside already so you know which filter is inside. Soft lining to protect the filter.Very happy with it. There are not that many options for a UV filter this size in glass that are not very expensive. This is a great choice to get beyond plastic but not go to $400. Check out the Schneider Cine UV filter, over $400 and the case it comes in looks almost identical to this one. I am sure their filter is better, but is it $330 better? JMHO

Excellent quality UV filter and I have come to expect nothing less from Neewer.This is a beautiful piece of glass thick and solid and if treated well will last a long time. I have a small rig matte box and can confirm the UV filter fits perfectly but check the size of your matte box before buying to confirm.In my personal opinion you won’t see a huge difference to your images using a UV filter but it does make a small difference that probably only you will notice as you was there taking the picture in the first place. It does slightly reduce ultraviolet rays/haze as in the description.Overall I am happy with the UV filter and will be using it when ever I am taking water pictures.

This filter arrives in a nice looking Neewer, branded cardboard box, that’s sealed in a plastic wrap. Inside the box is the filter itself (inside a protective case), and Neewer branded cleaning cloth.The filter itself is well made, and feels quite durable. The protective pouch is also well made, with a soft fluffy lining and magnetic clasp.This type of filter requires a suitable holder or matte box in order to attach it to the camera. Using it with my SmallRig Matte Box worked really well, and fitted perfectly.In use the optics proved to be very good. I haven’t noticed any difference in image quality whilst using the filter, nor any colour casting or vignetting. I can’t speak to its ability to handle scratches, but it certainly does a good job of repelling water. With modern digital sensors, you no longer need UV filters as they already block/are not sensitive to UV light. However, they can still be used to help prevent dirt, sand, stone chippings, etc. from reaching your lens when shooting/filming in more challenging conditions. UV filters do still have a use with film cameras though, however I unfortunately no longer have my film cameras so can not comment on how good a job this filter does.In conclusion, this is a well made square UV filter. Whilst I can’t speak to how well it works with film cameras, if you are after a UV filter for protection when shooting in conditions that demand it, then this filter will do a good job and won’t affect the quality or colour of your image.~ Amazon asked me to review this product and to give my honest and impartial opinion about it. That’s what I have set out to do, so I hope you found it helpful. ~

This fits perfectly in my Smallrig matte box and provides great protection for the lens from water, dust, etc.I can't see any difference in image quality, either positive or negative, but I didn't really expect to since I never see much difference from using any type of UV filter and I use them only as a protective layer in front of the lens. For that it works very well and without negatively impacting the image.

It enhances contrast while reducing haze and ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Awesome for taking shots of snow and high altitude without a bluish tint. It has 30 layers of optical coatings and has a light transmittance of up to 99.8% with a minimum light reflectance of less than 0.1%. In addition, it prevents your lens from dirt, scratches, and bumps.I like the quality of glass made from premium HD optical glass. The multicoated UV filter blocks out ultraviolet radiation between 300nm and 410nm to lessen flare and ghosting while ensuring accurate colour rendering. Besides that, the coatings are anti-static, oil and water-resistant, and scratch-resistant, making it perfect for outdoor shooting.Unlike the traditional circular frames, this square UV filter is not directly screwed onto lenses, making it adaptable to lenses of various focal lengths. I like the compact design, and very handy when you suddenly have the urge and inspiration to shoot. It fits nicely to my camera and does not come off even when you're on the move. Plus, it comes with a protective case too, a really nice-quality accessory for its value.Overall, it does only not offer optimal protection but also high-quality rendered images. I am happy with how well-made the UV filter is.

I took the Neewer UV filter outside and compared it against trees, houses, clouds, sky, water, and all types of things. There was no noticeable difference in viewing through the filter or right next to it. I didn’t see any distortion anywhere, not even at the extreme edges. I then took it inside and performed the same analysis.I even turned on a bright white LED lamp with multiple LED’s and looked for any artifacts or flares. I couldn’t detect any. The only thing I noticed is possibly a very slight dimming of the brightness of the lights. That would be normal with a UV filter, but it was definitely very minimal.UV filters unlike most other filters for cameras don’t normally do anything that is visible to the eye. Well, at least, they shouldn’t. This lens has 30 layers of optical coatings and a light transmittance of 99.8%. My visual tests agree with that.Amazon Vine sent this product to me for an honest unbiased review. Would I recommend it? Yes, this is a high-quality UV filter for a matte box that holds a 4” x 5.65” filter. I almost forgot, it comes in a really nice, protective case, too.

This square UV filter is business as usual from NEEWER. They produce an endless array of content creation equipment and accessories with a recurring theme: quality construction, impressive functionality and reasonable price point. Their camera filters offer a particularly impressive 'bang for the buck', weighing in at a fraction of what most quality filters cost. This square UV filter requires a matte box to use but assuming you've got that covered it'll minimize UV rays in your photos/videos which will result in better contrast and more vivid colors. Highly recommended!

This is my second piece of Neewer glass for my matte box. I'm very impressed. It comes in a really nice case with a top label. As my picture shows, it is so clear that it is hard to see it in the matte box. It has a thick sturdy feel. It is a great layer of added protection.
