Mine was not new like another review said. Shipped with battery charged and installed, and no manual. Radio did not fit correctly in box with battery installed. This caused the channel knob to take a beating during shipping. Nut holding the knob then needed tightening. I do like the radio.

I wanted to like this radio, but the receiver cuts in and out when receiving fairly strong signals. Programming is very glitchy, when you can find it online. Display is pretty good and the battery seems pretty solid. But I definitely wouldn't recommend this radio.

Finally a significant improvement in Baofeng radios! The UV/DM 32 is a decent size radio with larger controls, larger display, and good receive and transmit audio,It is much easier to hand program the radio configuration itself than previous Baofeng radios, specifically the memory channels, scan lists, side and P1/P2 button configurations. All buttons have independent short and long press functions! The Color display is fully configurable for different colors for each item, lots of useful information on the display also, icons and verbiage for whatever the radio is doing at the moment. The channel scan is very fast, much faster than any previous Baofeng radio! The only things that take some getting used to is the microphone is under the 0 key near near the bottom of the display/keypad on the radio, if you hold the radio normally with the speaker facing you and talk into the speaker grille as you’d normally expect to you’ll sound like your talking into the back of the radio. The speaker on the other side of the radio from the display/keypad is strange, like the Motorola APX 6,7,8000 radios.Personally I would prefer they put the speaker behind the keypad as they have done on many of their recent radios like the UV-21R. On the 21 and others the receive audio is surprisingly good for the speaker being behind the keypad and that would make the DM/UV 32 more user friendly.Other than that it’s a damn nice radio for a C note! One minus is the radio and accessories come loose in a box looking like it was a return/repack with internal packing materials missing in action. That was a bit concerning, but mine was in brand new condition so it’s no big deal.

Great buy. I can't stand that alot of these ham radios are so tiny. That's why when I learned they released what's basically an improved DM32 I jumped at the chance to grab one. It's based heavily on the Motorola app series mobiles and I love that. Great for guys with large hands. It doesn't hold a candle flame to an apx but for us poor people and budget SHTF preppers this is PERFECT!
