Worked for a day and then the scanner and radio station light didn’t work anymore.

Could not enjoy the product at all because the first three steps involve soldering chips directly to the board with no chip sockets. The 74HC595D is clearly too small for any lay person to solder to the board without making a mess of it.

Great little practice kit. Having trouble with the battery sustaining playback but that just means I gotta open it up and see if I did something funky or maybe try a different battery.

I bought this as a soldering project to do with my 10 year old grand daughter. It wasn't her first soldering project so she already had some practice. She had a lot of fun working on it, with me looking over her shoulder. There are a couple surface mount parts that were tricky so I soldered those. The best part is that it worked perfectly. Although the PCB is well labeled, be sure to use the QR code that comes with the kit to download assembly instructions. Be patient and don't try to do it in one sitting. we did it over four visits.

It was fun to build. The online guide is great. It was easy to follow. Everything works. The speaker quality is very basic. It has a headphone output. The case is nice, however, one of the crews was hard to put through. Extra 1-2mm in the corners would be helpful.

I'm an electrical engineer of 42 years experience. Because of my experience and nature of my work I personally have not built anything in years I've only did minor repairs. I bought this on a whim to see if I've still got it and Because it's cool looking.Well I found the online instructions and pictures to be very clear. The kit was complete. No missing parts and in some cases spares. It took me about four hours to assemble. My tools were my soldering iron kit, long nose pliers, solder, and a small Phillips screwdriver. It worked perfectly the first time I turned it on. My biggest difficulty was with surface mount components. That took patience and skill to solder.

this was a really fun build, they have detailed instructions and the pcb is well marked. there are a couple of surface mount components here but i didn’t have an issue. the finished product looks nice but the speaker leaves something to be desired. that’s ok though.
