I will admit I cant use everything in this set. I gave away the basket to drop cans in the water because I didn't have a pot big enough and it really got in the way, but everything else in the set works wonderfully and I use it all frequently. I have been using this set since I started canning 4 years ago, nothing has worn out. I did a lot of research before I bought anything, and this is the best value for what you get. I also put everything (including the magnet) in the dishwasher and it all cleans up beautifully.

Never canned but as a child I have fond memories of attentively watching my aunt and grandmother do it. I'm big on trying to eat healthy and there's nothing better than fresh homemade or homegrown foods! Summer has come late to Oregon so I haven't really gotten a chance to try it out on anything yet except for applesauce which I made last fall/winter (which is the same time I bought this canner) So far it has worked wonderfully, the instruction booklet has been easy to read and tamed any fears I may have had about the canning process. It doesn't stay all nice and shiny silver once you've used it a few times but there are special cleaners you can get to give it that brand new polished look. Happy canning =)

I tried canning for the first time this year, and it was great fun. I found the link to the Nopro set on pickyourown.org, and since I was just starting out with water bath canning, I decided to get the set. I try to stay away from using too many plastic items in the kitchen,so I absolutely love the two stainless steel funnels. The wide mouth one is especially irreplaceable. It works great on wide mouth and regular jars. The lid rack is the least useful item. It's a neat idea, but you need a much larger pot for sterilizing lids than if you just throw them in. With the wand, you don't even need a lid holder. The jar lifter is possibly the most crucial item, and it's wonderful and works like a charm. I've used it on wide mouth and regular jars, with equally excellent results. My finger tips are greatful. As for the rack, well I'm a bit disappointed in it. First of all it is 12 inches in diameter, so I had to buy a 20 gallon pot for it. That's ok though since I was able to fit 7 pint or quart jars successfully in it. However, I can't fit smaller jars on it, and that's disappointing. I made 4 half pints of apple butter this weekend and had to get a new rack because the jars were too small and fell through this rack. The rack also started to rust right away, which was dissappointing. All of this I can live with though. I saw the same rack on sale at a hardware store...Bottom line is that you can probably get these items separately and maybe save a little bit of money, but for those looking to just get started, this is a great set.

This set is specifically designed for canning and works great for that, and half a dozen other things too! The funnels are the right sizes for the jars and the lid rack is a knuckle saver not having to chase loose lids around the pot with the tongs just waiting to slip in too deep and scald yourself. I keep finding other uses for the funnels and the magnetic lid holder that I never imagined before I had this set. The hold set is heavy weight and well constructed and I'm sure it'll last for decades. The only word of warning is the jar holder is huge, the only pot I have that it fits in is a 15gal turkey frying pot so unless you have a big (and I mean BIG) pot I'd plan on putting that in the attic.

I like the set overall and pleased with my purchase. I wish it had the plastic piece for getting out the airbubbles, but have been using a plastic spatula instead. Also, there is one more type of jar grabber that it doesn't come with, but I've been canning just fine without it. My most used items are the jar grabber, lid stacker and the magnet lid lifter. It's nice to have the other items just in case I need them though later. Items were of good quality - just like what I'd buy individually at my local farm store and I think I saved money buying it all as a set. I think the lid rack alone was almost $10. The one funnel has an insert for a strainer. I don't know if I'll ever use that one since I have a food mill, but we'll see. And the rack, while other postings indicated it was large, did fit inside my water bath unit. I think its the same rack that my local farm store sells - not sure if you can get the extra sturdy ones or not, but my old one had work out so I guess it will work for now. It definitely doesn't fit in my American Canner, but that came with racks so its not necessary.

This is a very nice set. I like the lid rack quite a bit, although I do wish the handle didn't have a wooden know - I like to run utensils through the dishwasher. The magnet on the lid lifter is nice and strong. Again, as others have mentioned, the jar rack is very large. It is the full 12" described, so it doesn't fit into a 12" diameter pot. I haven't been able to use it since my pot is too small, but it seems that it is pretty nice and sturdy.

I never realized just how usefull a funnel would be. I never get any juice or liquid on the sides of the jar anymore so less cleanup!!! I don't know what the thin funnel is used for, but I use it to refill my spice jars. It helped me avoid another purchase, and works like a charm :D The thongs are good, same quality as I bought at Ace Hardware, and the cooling rack is good too, but I just put the jars on a towel (folded a few times) before, and that did the trick too. The lid picker upper is not ridiculously useful because I used a fork before and it worked wonderfully. And that tray thingie with holes in it... It didn't come with my package so... Overall, I'm glad I bought it for the two funnels, but everything else you can do without (only if you already have a jar picker upper).
