I was skeptical to order this canopy…. Sight unseen, worries about quality….and I am a builder, so could have built a roof over my cottage’s entrance but there were space limitations over the door. This unit is precisely engineered, it went together easily by myself, start to finish in 2.5 hrs. I am so glad that I chose it instead of building a heavy, wooden one.Very high quality unit and I am very pleased and grateful that Amazon gave me this opportunity.

This is exactly what we were wanting. Easy install, very attractive, and provides the shade we wanted. Would definitely purchase again.

This 8x8 Sierra model is about half the price of larger patio covers. It arrives in one box at about 70 pounds. The trick to a successful install is pre-preparation, because the instructions are not entirely clear. Download the install .pdf from Palram and study well. I took sticky notes and immediately labeled each part with the part number and location, left or right. One person can install in a full day, but two people can do it in 4 hours if the plans are well understood. Once erected, it is very sturdy and if carefully caulked at the wall, entirely waterproof. Note however, that the clear panels stop the sun heat, but not the light: this does not provide a shaded patio space.

Quotes I received from contractors to build a patio cover of this size were 5-6X the cost of this item, so I was skeptical. However, it arrived well-packed, undamaged and all parts needed were included. It took two of us about 4 hours to assemble and install the main structure, and another hour or two the next day to finish (caulking, trim pieces, gutter).I had read in other reviews that the roof panels were hard to slide into the tracks for some. We found it easier to put them in working from side to the other, rather than sliding them in from the outer end as recommended, and it went perfectly.Final result was excellent. Seems very solid and has a simple, attractive efficient design. Have had many compliments. In our location, the clear/diffused roof panels let in just enough light so the patio area is not too dark. Anxious to see how it handles a snow load in the Winter, but for the moment, we're very satisfied.

Good so far, I just wish I got the largest cover possible.
