Little tight, but the flanges bend easy, just drive them in with hammer. Quieter at idle, but not much different at 3000 rpm

i have a 2004 dodge truck with the 5.7 hemi no cats and a flowmaster delta 50 muffler and single 3 inch tail pipe. the flomaster was just too loud with a drone at cruising highway speeds. the patriot insert reduced the idle 2db. while i dont know how many db it is quieter at highway speed and no drone.

Installed on the 3 inch inlet side of a Gibson muffler with twin 2.5 inch pipes. Before I was running. At 80 plus decibels on the highway with a head ache causing drone. Now after the install I am running in the low 70's high 60's at 70 mph. No drone. I wanted to keep the tight fit so I did not grind the unit down, I simply sprayed it thoroughly with wd-40 and gently tapped it in with a mini sledge. It did rattle when it warmed up at the first run but now has settled. I will update with any changes. ( 2007 dodge Ram 5.7l)

I replaced my muffler with a glass packed one and the drone noise inside the cabin became annoying. I purchased this hoping that it would quiet it down but it didn't do much. Also, the sizing is an inside diameter measurement, so if you intend to insert it into a 3" OD pipe you will have to cut/grind it down to fit in the pipe.

Installed in aFe SS 3" exhaust for 2006 4.0 Nissan Xterra. The drone at 2000-3000rpm was too much. I installed the auger with some SS steel wool. Now I have a 6 db drop at idle. But what is best no more drove at highway speeds. If I have issues with backpressure I can remove the steel wool packing. No biggie.Update: steel wool had too much back pressure. Revoved the wool. Improved a bit. Still had flat spot at 3000 to 4000 rpm. Drilled 32 1/4 holes in the baffels. This kept the noise down and performance up.

UPDATE: 10-2-20It is 2020 folks, and things go wrong. The insert got send down my 3inch exhaust and ended up on the Y pipe. As a result of this it ended up being a huge clog in the exhaust from being beat up in the tube.I used this on my 2019 STI exhaust. The aftermarket exhaust was far too loud. I was looking for a way to quiet it down. These muffer inserts were interesting so I wanted to try them. There are three sprials which I thought was too restrictive so I chopped off one spiral. There will be some odd woosh woosh noises from the spirals. It almost sounds like a jet turbine.Overall it did quiet the exhaust a little around 2-5 db which is perfect for me. It quiets things down more up in the rpm vs low in the rpm.

Would have given 5 stars but the finish is pretty rough. Was already showing surface rust fresh out of the box so not sure how long it will last. But what a difference in sound! 02 Sti with 3" dp and 3" catback with Magnaflow straight thru muffler. Drone and cackle was unbearable before. Had to shout to have a conversation and couldn't turn the stereo up loud enough to kill the drone. I hammered the auger in and Presto. All the drone, cackle and rasp is gone. Not too quiet, just killed the noise. Neighbors are going to be much happier. Best quick fix I've ever found for excessive exhaust dB's. Can't beat the price.
