Update 5/31/23 - I emailed Polder customer support and informed them about the issue below. I sent in a picture of the unit and my Amazon invoice. They will replace it with a new unit and mail it to me. There are not many companies who will go above and beyond like this. I've changed my rating from 2 to 5 stars because of their customer service.Original review:I bought this in December 2021 and loved it. Everything about it worked well, large display that would auto invert when you held it upside down, very fast and accurate readings. Biggest annoyance was that I constantly triggered the "Hold" temperature feature by accident all the time by normal handling. The feature should not be so easy to activate. Biggest complaint is that the whole unit died after 18 months when a battery change was performed. Replaced with the correct type "CR2032", tried multiple batteries without luck. A simple device like this should last longer as I only used it once a month or so. So in other words after less than 20 uses it was dead.

In less that a month, both (i bought 2) did not function correctly. I returned both. Very expensive and should not happen. When they worked, they worked well, when they were working.

I have a few other meat thermometers to compare this one too, and this one just stands above the rest. Large digital display so super easy to read, easy to use, and it was accurate. The hold feature was helpful, and I love the long temperature gage! It kept me from my hand getting too hot when checking meats in a hot oven! Highly recommend!

I've been wanting a rapid read thermometer but wasn't willing to pay 100 bucks. I found the Polder Sous Chef thermometer for half the price and am impressed with how fast and easy it works. Since we're cooking more meals at home and BBQ'ing, it get's a lot of use.
