Although this cassette player has brought me some good memories from the 80's, it failed everywhere else. It has a retro look to it and modern upgrades and additions to the electronics, but the noise from converting from a cassette to MP3 is just awful. Playback is no better either. The mono speaker should work well with older music, but it's terrible sounding. My cassettes have a lot less noise, and they are over forty years old. I only gave it three stars as it did give me some retro vibes, less if it didn't look this way.

Great sound, easy-to-use cassette-to-MP3 converter, and a fun retro feel! The built-in speaker and mic work well, but the plastic build feels a bit cheap, and battery life could be better. Perfect for digitizing old tapes or enjoying a classic Walkman experience. Worth it for the price!

While this takes me back in time, it lacks the quality of older equipment. The markings on the Forward and Reverse buttons are opposite to the function. The audio quality is poor, and the noise is also in the MP3 recording.

This Portable Stereo Walkman Cassette Recorder is a fantastic throwback. It’s easy to use and converts cassettes to MP3 via a USB flash drive. The built-in speakers sound clear, and the earphone jack adds convenience. Plus, I love the feature that lets you record to tape with a microphone. Great for cassette lovers or anyone looking to digitize their old tapes.

What I like:- Brings back childhood memories- Plays tapesWhat I don't like:- Cheap build quality- Mono MP3 conversion- Terrible power isolation means any MP3 made has loud humming throughoutI ordered this cassette player in a rush of nostalgia. The promise of easy MP3 conversion triggered hopes of converting treasured mix tapes into a digital form. Unfortunately the reality was not that great.Let's start with what went right. It's the right size for bringing back all those eighties memories. The build quality is very cheap and plastic, but then so were most of my portable cassette players when I was a kid. The speaker on the front means you can listen without headphones in glorious AM styled mono. It'll even record your voice if you have a blank tape to hand. However, it was a massive let down at MP3 conversion, which is the only reason I ordered it. Now I know tapes never had the best audio quality, and most portable players had a bit of hum, but this tape player is amazingly noisy when copying to MP3. Using audio software filters with enough frequency range at a high enough level to suppress the static buzz rendered any recording made useless. The 3.5mm headphone jack is labelled "line out" but isn't a true line out. The volume must be at maximum for any chance of the recording being usable over the static hum. This means you want a dummy 3.5mm jack or risk your ears or your loved ones sanity as it blasts away for the duration of the tape.Since it couldn't do this one thing well it seems to be a bit pointless. If you want to listen to your old tapes, there are better players out there with more features and less hum. If you want to digitize your tapes, use a better playback device and record straight to the sound card or audio adapter on your computer. If you need something to record audio notes or meetings, there are many more digital recorders you could use that will have better audio and record for longer than a cassette. It played my tapes, but not in a way I could use, so a very disappointing 2 out of 5.

VERDICTDo not buy unless converting voice recordings.WHYThis player is okay for playback of voice recordings and transferring those to MP3 files.PROS:* built in speaker* Accepts USB* Can be in "automatic" mode and automatically create separate MP3 files from tape conversion depending on pauses/silence on the tape.CONS:* Do not use this for music transfer. It only supports MONO. It is dual-channel mono. This means it's horrible for music transfer.* Cheap feeling case - low quality plastic (light density)* Bad noise isolation. If you power it with batteries or via the USB-C port *using* a power bank, then there is less noise. If you use a USB power adapter plugged into the wall, I tried 2 separate ones, there is background noise when you play a tape.* There is a built-in speaker that is right above the cassette tape - this can likely demagnetize i.e. continue to ruin the tape you play. Serious flaw - does not look like there is any isolation between the speaker magnet and the cassette tape. This is a horrible product. Do not recommend.
