Having used ProLink Gold Chain Lube for years now, I can confidently say that it is a solid choice for cyclists looking for a high-quality chain lubricant. This particular lube stands out for its loose consistency, which offers some unique advantages.Unlike thicker lubes, this product penetrates deep into the chain links, ensuring effective coverage and lubrication. The loose consistency allows the lube to reach even the tightest spaces, reducing friction and ensuring smooth operation. This feature is particularly beneficial for cyclists who frequently ride in dusty or dirty conditions, as it helps prevent the accumulation of grit and debris on the chain. One thing to keep in mind is that ProLink Gold Chain Lube requires more frequent reapplication compared to thicker lubes. While it may need to be reapplied every 200-300 miles, this is a minor inconvenience considering the benefits it provides. The loose consistency allows the lube to effectively work its way into the chain, but it also means that it may not last as long as thicker alternatives. However, the ease of reapplication makes it a simple task, and the resulting smooth and quiet performance of the chain makes it worthwhile. One of the standout features of ProLink Gold Chain Lube is its ability to keep the chain clean. The lube does not build up or create a sticky residue, which can attract dirt and grime. Instead, it remains clean and smooth, allowing for optimal performance and reducing the need for frequent cleaning and degreasing. This makes it a convenient choice for cyclists who prefer to spend more time riding and less time on maintenance tasks. In terms of overall performance, ProLink Gold Chain Lube delivers excellent results. It effectively reduces friction, ensuring a quieter and smoother ride. Additionally, the lube's ability to repel dirt and prevent build-up helps prolong the lifespan of the chain and other drivetrain components.ProLink Gold Chain Lube is a reliable choice for cyclists who value a loose lubricant that keeps their chain clean and performs consistently. While it may require more frequent reapplication compared to thicker lubes, its ability to penetrate deep into the chain, prevent build-up, and deliver a smooth riding experience makes it well worth considering.

I am avid cyclist riding between 3000-4000 miles a year. I have been using Progold chain oil for almost 10 years. I lubricate and clean the chain every 200-300 miles. Using Progold I usually get over 3000 miles on a Shimano Ultegra chain before it stretches to a point where it needs to be replaced. By cleaning the chain and lubricating regularly it extends chain life. By changing the chain when it is stretched it extends the life of the cassette and crank. I got 15,000 miles out of my last cassette and my current crank has over 18,000 miles. Definitely recommend using Progold to extend the life of cycling components.Pros:- Spray bottle is easy to use. Spray on the inside of the chain, run the chain around several times, and then wipe off excess.- Relatively cheap compared to other chain lubes. Using as frequently as above, my last bottle lasted almost four years.- Doubles as a chain cleaner and lubricant.Cons:- Not much to say here. It does require more frequent lubrication than some of the wax based lubricants that stick to the chain longer. You are going to pay the same price for a 3oz bottle of that as you are for a 16oz bottle of this though.

I'm not one of those people who rate a product poorly because the shipping was bad. Amazon put this bottle in a USPS envelope. There was no padding or protection around the bottle and the top wasn't secured with tape. At least put the bottle in a ziploc so when it leaks the stuff won't go everywhere. It only leaked a little, but it smells like terrible. (If you've used it, you know how it smells. Kerosene, maybe?)Short story: this stuff works well for me. I have to maintain 6 bikes that are ridden often in the mud and on wet roads.Long story: I like this stuff as chain lube. I live where it rains 8+ months out of the year. I get road grime and mud in the winter. The road is good in the Summer but i get dust on when trail riding. I have two bikes, and I take care the bikes for my wife and kids. That's a lot of bikes. Between the weather and all the bikes I don't want to be removing chains every 200 miles or going through other tedious maintenance. I use Progold often and generously and wipe the chains off after I apply it. I'm not getting all the grit out when my bike is covered in mud. My take is a new chain is ~$20. I'd rather replace it every 1-2 years and not spend hours maintaining it. My road bike chain gets replaced every year. I learned that lesson the hard way.

I just did two complete rebuilds recently and wanted to relubricate everything as I built the bikes. Firstly, this lube and it's spray applicator really helps with loosening up screws that have gotten wedged, too tight or corroded; was a life saver in that respect. This isn't so great for greasing up seatposts, bolts and bearings, but that isn't this product's mission (for that use ). For the chain, proper application is cleaning the chain and cogs in a bath of degreaser (I use ), wipe down, spraying the interior of the chain with lube, let dry for 2 hours, wipe down again, spray again, install the chain and let dry for 6 hours. This may sound like much, but after seeing how much gunk and old grease this lube displaces for how little is applied( it cleans further when applied) it's worth it and isn't that hard given that it comes in a spray bottle. The performance of the lubed chain is fantastic and you don't need to apply very much. I went from a drivetrain that was super crunchy and stiff to one that was silky smooth just by changing the lube. It also doesn't attract dirt. One of the bikes was a mountain bike and after a hill ride the chain was very clean. All in all, a biker's dream.I really hope Amazon.com continues to carry this product.
