The vise is absolutely perfect for holding my embroidery hoop for 2 handed stitching. I love it, and look forward to using it on large cross stitch projects. Easy to attach to the table and tilts my hoop at the right angle for me to easily see my work. It is very sturdy and will be used for other small projects beyond hand sewing.

I use this vise for carving wildfowl. It is very versatile in that it can be used in so many positions. It is sturdy enough to enable both hand carving and power carving while the project is secured in place. 👍

Ideal for those little jobs. Jaws shut in line and rubber covers very useful. Quality is good as expected from Proxxon but price on the high side. You get what you pay for

This ball clamp is very useful. The bench mount is strong, the ball grip is strong. However it is moving where ball is attached to the stem of the vise. This rattle motion is in one direction and most like will get worse over time.Upsetting thing is that they sorted out the more difficult issue of temporary and repeated ball grip and failed in what should be the easier issue, permanently mounting a stem to a ball.

I rarely give a 5-star review, because the room for improvement is the biggest of all rooms. This vice shows craftsmanship, attention to details that are aimed at the many kinds of delicate work. I am sure the designer intended that it would support holding small delicate precision parts as is shown in the product photo. This should be understood, otherwise disappointment may arise. It is not a machinist vice that will hold up to pounding steel with a sledge hammer. It is heavy enough to perform many tasks without using the tabletop mounting bracket. The finishing appears to be a powder coating or other quality finish. I cannot prove that observation, but I am satisfied with its price and qualities. It appears to have a superior finish that should hold up for a lifetime, unless it is abused. Another reviewer commented about the holding power of the ball joint, and I might deduct a quarter-point from this review; -- I own a $1,200 camera tripod with a ball head that is able to be locked effortlessly, as such, I don't expect anyone to solve that design problem at this meager price.

Works great for my hobbies. I would recommend that you use bolts/screws to attach this to your workbench though. If you notice on both sides there is a place to screw/bolt this down. It will slide on a wood surface without doing this, doesn't matter how tight you get it. Also be careful when removing the lower half if you are moving it. The lower half that holds the clamp on the upper half, doesn't feel great when it hits your slippered foot, and if you are not careful that will happen!Overall it's well worth the money. The construction is good, it's versatile, and it's perfect for doing hobby work.

The price is so right for this. The quality seems great so far. I put it in my home office. I do alot of creating and small building, i also need to clamp things with more strength than I can apply with my hands. I love how I can clamp this to the table top or just use it free standing too. Its been a huge help and I wqish I would have bought this years earlier. I didnt need a 40lb vice. This was perfect for the smaller jobs i needed done. I even use it in collaboration with my Dremel. The possibilities seem endless. Great price, product and quality. Id for sure recommend this to anyone.

Pros: Majority of the components are made of steel, durable & sturdy. Handy removable rubber pads on the jaws to protect delicate work pieces. Base can also be screwed or bolted to a work table (table clamp is removable). Ball on the base allows pivoting of the vise head. The enamel & chrome looks like it will effectively protect the vise from corrosion. Compact.Cons: The knob of the table clamp is made of plastic and may not be durable enough for repeated use. The diameter of the screw shaft of the table clamp is inadequately small and flimsy looking considering the weight of the vise. It's not really strong enough to hold the vise in place securely for heavier jobs.Bottom line: A very versatile, portable & quality vise. Serves its purpose for lightweight to medium duty jobs. Worth the extra cost.

I have had several of these smaller vises for working with polymer clay and other small jewellery work.Let me say first that these small vises are not built for sawing through a 1 inch thick pipe or torqueing off a rusted nut on a large bolt. To do that you need to get a larger 6" plus bench vise. But, if like me, you want a medium duty vise that will not take up a bunch of space and be an aid in your craft projects this is the best I have had so far. It's clampable so can be removed if you need the space, or can be bolted in place if a permanent spot is found for it.I use it a lot to hold my polymer clay extruder and it works perfect for this task. Once clamped or bolted in place it is fully articulated and you can put it in the best position to help you out.Recommended for jewellery and other medium duty craft work

I am not a pro, just a person, who used a rotary tool, fix and unfix things at my work desk/Flytying/repair table and the Proxxon 28608 Precision Vise FMZ with Clamp is a nice addition to hold work and stabilize anything I will do while seated there. It is a heavy metal tool precision made for hobbiest or semi pro who will need to hold their work securly, with a hard or soft jawed grip. Well made and only needs a little dry molly sprayed on the threaded drives to be ready for use with a vise pivot that allows positioning of work as needed. Heavy and a good mount for a solid hold to your work table edge.
