Sensors pick up movement well, and the receiver is responsive. Solar power means less battery hassle. Works best with clear placement, and range is good for most driveways.

I’m very impressed with this elegantly simple system. I installed one to cover my driveway, and one to cover in front of my front door, and, after giving it an initial USB-C charge-up, they were off and running. The setup was reasonably straightforward, there are plenty of different warning sounds, and, once you have it set to screen out extraneous movement, it’s pretty much foolproof.*RECOMMENDED*

Handy motion sensor for a variety of uses from Qumox. Works well, nice range and easy set up.

We always keep the garage door open or forget to close it. A lot of people in our neighborhood are walking around so I wanted to get a security beam to know if anyone comes in the garage. One day while browsing Amazon for security equipment I came across this solar 2 beam system with plug in base and decided to order it.Once it arrived the setup was very easy I just installed one of the beams on the outside of the garage door entrance so it could get sun and then plugged in the main base inside my home. The sensors come already setup just plug and play. Any time movement pass by the sensor a chime will play on the base, you can change the chimes and volume. This is really handy for knowing whats going on without being there.

The infrared Detector device can be charged with the incorporated solar panel (or, using a common USB – C cable and common 5V 2A charging adaptor ... considered so common that neither is included). When charging with a cable, a red LED light will change to green when fully charged. The sensitivity of the Detector can be changed by using a paper clip to toggle a hidden switch within the very-small pinhole located in a corner of the back mounting well. A yellow light flashes ( in the front panel ) once for ‘low’ (detects out roughly 16 feet) twice for ‘medium’, and three times for ‘high’ sensitivity (detects out to roughly 52 feet). I set mine at ‘low’ since the driveway is very close.Mount the Detector in a location where; it can be charged by the sun; it can be aimed downwards at a specific area to detect motion; and it is not likely to detect false alarms from the motion of leaves or branches. When powered on, the Detector illuminates a blue light which extinguishes quickly, indicating the sensor is ready. When motion is detected, the same blue light illuminates (see ‘mounted and detecting’ photo), and a signal is broadcast to the Receiver for it to ‘alarm’.The Receiver plugs into a standard 110V electrical socket within the house. To set your preferences, cycle through high/medium/low/[or silent, relying on the indicator light only] volume levels, and then press an up/down button to cycle through [and eventually choose one of], 38 chimes/melodies (some very annoying, as you might expect) for the alarm. I chose birds chirping. The Receiver should sense a ‘motion-detected’ signal up to 328 feet away, but of-course this distance will be reduced by obstacles (such as walls) in between. Happily, the Receiver appears to incorporate a battery backup, since it does indeed ‘remember’ your selected settings after a power outage. Can confirm that this well designed pair of devices definitely work well together as intended. I am very happy with the flexibility and operation of this system.

The main benefit of this driveway alert model is the solar powered feature. I've used several similar types of driveway alerts but they were all battery powered and always seemed to die at inconvenient times. The downside is you need to find the right spot to get enough sun and be in the right position. Luckily I have the right spot and it has been working pretty reliably. In addition to the main device positioning, you also may need to fiddle around with the sensitivity settings, but that's required of most of these devices. Once set, though, they need little maintenance, especially if they are solar powered, like this one.

I needed something simple to help me know if there’s someone behind a door, and this was an interesting option that has been working well for me. Solar panel for charging if you need it outside. I don’t and I am glad I can use the USB-C port for charging them. You can have different sounds coming from the receiver. So far so good.
