This item works really well in doors( use in the kitchen) the knats can be really bad with fruits around so this is really helpful and I also leave it on at night for a night light so you have a two for one.

I don't recommend the Gootop Bug Zapper with Remote Control (RC) option. The IR receiver no longer functions in the chassis after one year of light use (i.e. not used nightly/often). I hear it click in the chassis but light stays on. I contacted customer support to address the lifespan quality, but got zero reply from Gootop. Amazon even asked me about their reply.I paid for the upgraded remote control feature for ease of on/off operation. Many times you get asked to review a product right after purchase, but it's the long term quality that counts and after this experience I attest the RC upgrade is not worth it when it breaks with Gootop expecting you to purchase another unit,So for each reason detailed one star with no recommendation for the RC option and a warning on customer support.

Taking off one star because the range on the remote is pretty small. But WOW does this thing work. Got it because I was sick of bugs coming into my house every time I opened the door in summer. Set this lantern 15ft from my door, and all the bugs flock to that now. I can hear it zapping away in the evenings. Would buy again!

This bug zapper is a welcome addition to our back yard. It's smaller than expected, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in power. It draws bugs away from our patio and zaps the life out of them. What more could you ask for. It's not real bright which is nice, and it isn't super loud. It's not uncommon to see smoke roll off of it on the large bugs, as it reduces them to dust. It is a very good value for the money. I'm even thinking of getting another one in hopes of riding the world of the dam mosquitos. Or at least reducing their population even more in my backyard.

I started noticing a few mosquitos in my house, buzzing around my ears while I tried to work, so I ordered this bug zapper to help me concentrate. A couple days later, we noticed about a dozen mosquitos coming out of our Christmas tree. Apparently, a mosquito laid eggs in the water, which hatched a bunch of them. Thankfully, I had this bug zapper on hand, and it has killed about 10 of them in our house within a few hours. It's killed about 20 of them over the past few nights. I also set it outside one night, and it killed a bunch of moths and house flies out there.It does seem to attract mosquitos, moths, and house flies, but not to a magical degree - they typically won't fly directly to it, but eventually, they'll get curious and check it out, and ZAP! You'll love that hearing sound.I chose this model because it won a comparison test on a Youtube video, and after using it for about 3-4 days, I'm really glad we got it. Be sure to get this model with the remote vs their other identical model with no remote - it's nice to turn it on and off without walking over and plugging it.I wish the remote said "bug zapper" or something on it though so we know what it's for. It seems like an obvious oversight with a $0.02 fix.

The simple remote control feature makes this unit super functional as used on our lanai at night to zap any little bugs that are out there. We simply turn it on and off from inside the house. Very effective bug control and the unit looks very sharp too.
