I replaced my transmission pan in my van for one that had a drain. These magnets fit perfect over the drain and I threw extra one next to bottom of pan next to it.

Need to use at least two in the pan to catch metallic particles. Using the new lead frame with the new foam around the electrical service and two magnets is Ford recommended fix

They seem to be exactly what they purport to be. No reason to think they won’t collect the metal filings over the next few years in the transmission pan.

We use the magnets to hold curtains flat to our three steel entry doors in our garage. Cheap easy and full proof way to keep prying eyes from seeing in.
