I don't think I will ever use this for a router template, I just don't see how it would work being so intricate. This doesn't matter because I got it for the shapes. I use it for scribing onto rock and wood and then I cut out with a scroll saw for wood and Dremal and diamond saw for stone. I use soft stone like limestone and some slates and make shapes for kids to later grind, shape and polish for fun. I got the template for hobby use and not necessarily for router. Makes nice shapes for wood for the less enthusiastic kids to sand and make as a keepsake. Keeps them busy and off their iPads.

As so many others have pointed out, these really won't work for routers. The spaces in some of the more intricate shapes are simply too small for the router to get in there. However, since I actually got these more as a way to make precise and accurate stencil lines, I am not overly concerned with that. These are great stencils for making accurate outlines on any surface (I use them on limestone and sandstone that I carve). They do not distort in the way that thin stencils are prone to do. They work equally well on paper or other smooth surfaces. (They are not for painting, however!)Other than the fact that these really don't work with routers as intended, the only other complaint is that the measurement markings are not permanent. They really should have been incised rather than merely printed. Overall, I can see why some people are disappointed in these--especially given the somewhat high price--but they work for me and I appreciate their sturdiness.

I haven't had a chance to give these a shot with a router, but I have many other router templates and the quality of manufacturing on these is very high. They arrive individually wrapped so that the plastic is flawless. The edges have no flaws and the plastic is very thick and sturdy. Some people have complained that some of the shapes are too small for router bushings. That is correct. You should not be using a router with small shapes. What you need is a dremel-type tool combined with a suitable base and a 1/8" bit that has a small bearing. You find this sort of setup at online luthier supply stores, not at your local hardware store.

These are thick and sturdy. Cut well, no deviations or plastic "strings" to sand off.Worked absolutely perfect with my brass blade guide inserts, just as well with mybearing guided bits.

I was hoping that the templates were a bit larger and would accommodate larger designs. The templates are thick and very well made. The templates work very well and should last a lifetime if not destroyed by poor routing. As far as the designs, I would have preferred some larger circles and less of the stars, etc. This is strictly my needs and does not reflect on the templates quality. I should have paid more attention to the size and shapes of the designs.

These templates are very well made with a nice, thick acrylic. The thickness is 1/4" thick. The downside is these wont work with a router. You cannot get into the corners and small spaces. You are better off using these to stencil the shapes and using a dremel to carve. Other than that, I would definitely buy more shapes and styles of templates.

BEST THING ABOUT IT: made of 1/4” plexiglassADDITIONAL LIKES: 5 different shapes, ruler markings includedWORST THING ABOUT IT: some templates smaller than bushingsADDITIONAL DISLIKES/CONCERNS: sizes are for templates - not finished shapes, no instructions or bushing recommendations, marking disappear with first couple of usesWARRANTY: nothing listedCOMMENTS (Function, Appearance, Quality): This is a very sturdy pair of small templates made from 1/4 inch plexiglass. The perimeter shapes and sizes are as noted in the illustrations. My only concern is that for inlays with narrow spacing (i.e. the stars), the bushing used must be very thin-walled for the finished inlays to be of any size. I do wish the quoted sizes were based on finished inlays (for a recommended bit/bushing combination). I knew they were going to be small, but should have been more attentive as to how small were the inlays themselves. I got them primarily for the oval and circular inlays, which should still work fine for my needs. I doubt, however, I’ll get much use from the stars and hearts (the bushing diameter will likely prevent much protrusion into the points - see images), but now I have them if the need arises and perhaps can use the smaller ones on crafts. I am impressed with how thick and sturdy are the templates and I suspect the ovals will get considerable use. Also, the size marking came started to come off with first use; suggest flipping the template over (markings facing down) to get them to last longer.MOST SUITABLE FOR: routing small functional ovals and circles with a palm plunge routerIS IT WORTH IT?: for me, the small oval and round inlay template is worth the price, the second template is gravy.*PRECISE RATING: 4 (wish manufacturer would have included bit/bushing recommendations for optimal results - to avoid the need for trial and error)RECOMMENDATION: If you have need for routing small inlays in (the larger ones of) these shapes, I can recommend these templates because of the useful sizes of the routine shapes. However, be aware some of the smaller sizes of the shapes included are too small for most bushing/bit combinations.(As always, I will report back if there are any durability issues with additional use.)NOTE:I hope you found something informative and useful in this review. If so, please consider liking it. It would be most helpful. Thank you.*Rating scale:5 = definitely buy again, happy to have it (exceptional in several characteristics,)4 = probably buy again (decent job of doing what I need, excels in one or two characteristics)3 = perhaps buy again after researching options (functions OK, looks OK, decent quality, average life expectancy but no outstanding characteristics)2 = would not buy again (low end/below average merchandise and/or service, but not totally worthless)1 = sorry I bought it the first time (poor performance in several characteristics, no redeeming characteristics)Characteristics considered: Presentation/Packaging, Quality, Craftsmanship, Materials, Functionality, Utility/Versatility, Instructions, Ease-of-Use, Comfort, Value.

Very high-quality acrylic templates for routing with 18 different cut-outs. Meant to be used for routering shapes in wood. The plastic is 1/4-inch thick, and each template is 6 x 8.25-inches. There is an embossed ruler at the edge, marking inches. These really are very good quality.
